2024 Nude Day Contest support thread

I'm still stuck in pending... totally naked and desperately waiting to show everyone what I've got... metaphorically speaking... hopefully I'll be able to expose myself soon...😉...in a literary fashion!

Why do I hear Kim Wilde singing "Keep Me Hanging On" while I read this

Mine's stuck in pending too, missed two publishing days already. I thought Nude Day submission would be fast-tracked but I've had regular, non-event stories go out quicker than this in the past.

Not a fan.

Same. And some people have said that they have had stories pass pending in less than an hour. Oh, well.

Mine was approved in two days, which is only slightly faster than non-contest tales often go up.

Fingers crossed for you two!

Mine's all set for tomorrow. Yay!! I was wondering if my story was dancing a little too close to the 18-year-old rule, although I made it quite clear that the high school girls were 18 and one 19. I wonder if certain words caused it to get flagged and in need to further (human) review. But it should publish tomorrow!!

Mine's out for tomorrow too! Must have been the same batch. My MCs are both in college so I'm sure there weren't any problems on that account at least.

I wonder if there was an issue at the site about the contest. On the second and third days, no new stories have been posted. I'm glad to hear that the process is working again for you folks whose stories will be posted on the 17th.

My story is not going to make the first few days of the submission window, but there is unexpected progress and it should be done in a week or so. The polyamory troupe I've been writing about recently is spending an extended weekend at a nudist resort. Lots of naked to be had.

And other stuff, too. ;)

Well, maybe I do have something. The setup is going beautifully. I love the character and the way it's playing out. The word-play title tickles me. I'm absolutely going to use it. Whether it ends up leading smoothly into the Nude Day angle I have in mind, I'm not sure. I'll know when I get there. One way or another this fellow and what he's up to are going to lead a story. I'm just not sure it will be the one that inspired him. LOL

Perfect! Follow the character down the rabbit-hole.

The characters always know where they're going.

It's looking more likely. I've introduced him to that part of the story, and it's still rolling right along. By George, I might just have something here for a contest for the first time in bleedin' forever.

Nope, totally disagree on the highlighting. As a writer I enjoy the challenge of using Nude Day and nudism to create something erotic.

Case in point my Holly story and my No Words Needed story used National Nude Day as an event that spiralled into the eroticism. Holly was forced into her situation because of her job having a special exclusive Nude Day event. No Words has two desperately shy people who through a huge misunderstand with a party and it being on Nude Day come to discover their mutual attractions.

My feeling is sex (eroticism) is an easy potential when you get people naked. Just my opinion and I fully realize that it is only my opinion.

I mean really, what is so erotic about the Winter Holidays, Halloween and April Fool's Day - but the potential is there.
I’m with you on this one. And I will add that - more than most other contest themes here - Nudity makes many people uncomfortable, vulnerable, outside what’s normal for them. And those feelings are a huge part of erotica.

I’ve won this contest twice, once with a story that revolved entirely around a particular nude day public ‘Celebration of the Skin Your In:’ “Nudity is For the Birds.” Nudity is central to all aspects of the plot. The characters use nudity-based humor and riddles to navigate through their own discomfort with being nude in front of other nudes while dealing with the physical attraction growing between the to first-time nudists.
The other - “The Need For Weed” - only mentions nude day a couple times and uses it as a minor plot point. The story would be unchanged if the nude day parts were removed.

Well, I'm just shy of 6k words now, and it's mostly a matter of finding the right cadence and level of detail for a 6-on-1 foreplay scene culminating in a cowgirl ride. Then the right little zinger ending to wrap it up and suggest how much my protagonist has his work cut out for him over the course of the rest of the day and the next.

Both of those have been crash and burn points for me in the past, so I'm still not counting this one as a certainty. That opening is absolutely going to get published at some point. I really, really enjoy it and my protagonist.

Aaaand mine has just gone up!

Naked Without a Cause
Lila has some plans for the Nude Day but they get derailed rather quickly when her brother insists on celebrating it, too.

Nothing too ambitious, just a little bit of I/T fun.

Okay, I know that I/T is a special category with lots of engagement but this:

in a little over twelve hours, is crazy!

It's my first official Lit contest (I only participated in author-organized challenges before), so I didn't know what to expect, but damn... If nothing else, it sure seems like a good way to get some readers :)

That's great. Yeah, contests have a lot more engagement. And yes, the better the story the more traffic back catalog gets as a lovely bonus.
Enjoy

Musing on mine at work today, the transition into the Nude Day/sex part felt clunky and slow. Cut-n-pasted about 2k words into a reference document because there's some stuff in there I can use, and picked up from the cut point. Going well again, jumps into the action quicker, and feels like a smoother cadence. Some of the stuff that was too slow early I can use for the cool down after the sex scene. Bonus is that I came up with an ending for it, which it hadn't yet acquired yesterday.

Just finished my editing passes of another story and set it off for a second set of eyes to look over, so it's too late to continue tonight. I'll have another day of musing it over and jump on it again tomorrow evening.

After a few last minute edits to (hopefully) improve readability...

"Unbridaled" (I/T) has been submitted for approval. My entry from last year is still my most viewed story so I'm hoping for the same kind of response for this one.

I've never joined in before, but I might give it a go this year, looks a lot of fun. Does anyone know if non US writers are eligible for the prize money? And is there any sort of word limit?

Thanks!

No word limit. International winners get the prize differently, though I'm not sure of the particulars.

Join in!
