Exactly. Some imagination is nice, but if you ask too much of the reader....

I reply via phone sometimes in the lounge, and the wonderous "Swype" spelling decides to create words for me. As for threads, the stray too-fast "fo" for "of" or misplaced letters doesn't bother me if it's not a continuous thing. If EVERY post is full of errors, I end up losing interest. Decifering poorly typed posts is frustrating.

That, continuity fails, and minimalistic replies.... Lily goes SheHulk on her computer.
If I write a 6 paragraph or more post, a 4 sentence reply is not cool.
Worse still is 3 WORDS.

This is my main problem. If it happens in a post or two, hell we are all human, but EVERY freaking post???

I think the lack of capitalization and punctuation bothers me more than spelling. I have spell-checker and all that, because I know despite my one-time English major roots spelling was never my strong suit, but there are times my fingers get a little ahead of my brain and I end up typing something that is a word, just not the word I meant.

I can't think of a good example now, but if I was talking about a horses' mane, for example, there's a good chance I'd be posting about a horses' many and not even catch it. My fingers just like to type the words they usually type, not the ones they don't, I guess.

But people that type like they talk but the fuck out of me. Everybody, not errbody. Stabstabstab.

True. Phones are horrible. So warn the person you are writing with if you use them a lot. And maybe come back and edit sometime??

I have trouble making those long involved posts that I so want to make.

Mostly because I don't want to do something that would "over-ride" what the other person would do.

But I so fucking hate making a post small, and not pushing things, because of this! AAARRGGGHHHHH.

That's true. It is hard to know where the line is.

For me its the whatever...we all make mistakes answer. I'm alot more tolerant of that sort of thing in my cowriter's posts but not tolerant at all of my own. I'm not saying that mistakes don't slip past me, because they do And lord knows I've been dragged over the coals before for not reading my cowriter's posts closely enough. I speed read alot so details get skipped over on me.

What I can't abide is not giving as much as my cowriter is giving it. I did that once before and it was to my eternal regret.

I am sick and tired of people telling me that everything will be ok. Everyone seems to think that those trite words will make everything better, but they won't. So there. Quit telling me it will be ok. If you're really my friend, why don't you actually act like it? Take me out to dinner? Go to the movies together? No wait..... that would take up too much of your precious stinking time. So don't tell me it will all be ok if you won't help make it happen.

I sort of have this problem, but it's slightly different for me.

I can make posts of a decent size, I think, but at times it is hard to have one be a decent size when there is conversation happening, because most conversations don't consist of one person saying three things in a row, then the other person reacting to those three things and saying their own three things, then the first person reacting to those, etc. But finding a way to have a post be more than three lines without doing that is difficult. I think it's why I end up with a lot of internal dialog in my posts.

I think thats normal. Sometimes one finger moves faster than another. That kind of thing.

I can't get my jobless friend a job, I can't change the fact that my friend's ex wife is trying to siphon every penny from him and ruin his life, I can't make my best friend's boss not be an ass, I can't change the fact that her parents are draining every penny she earns because they don't understand financial responsibility. So if I can't tell them "Everything will be okay" What exactly should I tell them? Taking them to the movies or dinner doesn't make their problem go away. Listening to them doesn't make their problems go away. What exactly is there, that a person can do?

You're right. Words are trite. But when that's all I can offer isn't that better than nothing?

The situation is more complicated than what I posted on here. But in general, what I meant is that a true friend isn't going to just say something. They will give you a hug. Talk to you on the phone. Send you a picture to make you laugh. The choices are endless, but it includes more than a simple "its going to be ok." Maybe you say this is just a season. It will change. Maybe you don't say anything.....you just listen. Some words are appropriate....when they have someone who cares backing them up.

I don't know.

I'm just sick of people who pretend that they know, and yet do nothing.
