Good luck. ( I mean that sincerely).

I took my shot at it.

We can still hook up and bounce off each other's signature

Sorry guys,

I sent Laurel a PM, but haven't heard back from her yet.

I'll be off to Crete for a week, flying tomorrow evening.
When I'm back I will see what else I can do.

Now that I've gotten around to wanting to see this happen, I don't think it will. There have been no new developments in quite some time. I get the feeling that the demographics within Literotica simply aren't there to support or warrant the creation of an Art Forum.

See the link at the bottom of my sigline. I was being sarcastic when I titled the thread that leads to, but it's probably the general concensus of the broader base of Litsters and the managment.

so what exactly would it take to make this happen....more input from the non-artisans? If we can get them to put their flaccid peckers down for a bit and pay attention to what could be offered in illustrations and free formed culture, who knows we might get a little more interest. I know that the arts forum wouldn't be as busy as the others (just not enough interests in the arts) but I think their are some intellects that would benefit greatly from exposure.

This thread getting the kind of response that, say, the game threads get, would be a good start.

bump for the VA forum...I dont have much to say about it tonight.....would still like to see it manifested though.

And grind for the VA forum. Yes, it would be nice....

BT,

any word yet? Is there something we can do to help?

I don't know at this point. I plan to write a formal email to Laurel and Manu. Perhaps that will give me more response than the silence I've been getting so far.

As for numbers of views. Any of you guys ever checked how many people take a look at the arts threads? Not too bad I'd say.

:D

Laurel,
I have been posting a thread on the Authors Hangout...within the bulletin board. The thread is called Illustrators Hangout.

I was wondering if it makes sense to have a separate catagory for Illustrators? I know there is the general board and that Literotica is primarily focused on LITERATURE. still writing and illustration are such good partners.

I have no luck in the past posting to the "Erotic Illustration" section of the Story Index page....is it broken or just neglected? best I can tell there have been no new illustrations in ages.

sincerely rhino/aka jonathan

Prior to getting the thread I started set up as a sticky, I had sent numerous e-mails, with attachments, for the art section of the site. Many of my e-mails included almost the exact same text as you have here. NONE of them were ever answered.

Something that may have not been brought up here; though we do have a variety of art threads here, Laurel's job could potentially get a lot more complicated if she's not just chasing down sites who are stealing stories, but also going after the ones who may already be stealing artworks.

Right now the artworks here are not endorsed, officially, by Literotica. That makes the contributing artists freelancers and the artworks they post are posted at their own risk.

I understand the risks of posting works on the web. Most of the stuff I post will be older stuff that isn't for sale or wont be sold. The only way to control distribution of your work is not to release it. I do however think that defeats the point of letting folks know what you can do and will also hamper your prospects as an illustrator. I don't think anyone would be as pissed off as I would if I saw one of my pieces on some cheazy pay porn sight or something. Having said that, most artist (myself included) here know the risks and only release a small sample of what they can do.

I wrote the following email today:

Hi Laurel/Manu,

Some time ago I asked you guys about the possibility of a separate
forum inside the AH, dedicated to the visual arts. There are a lot of
threads dealing with drawing, painting and such and they keep getting lost
in the wealth of other threads.

I put up a poll and it seems like a lot of people would appreciate such
a thing.

I was thinking along the lines of a subdivision of the AH, a bit like
our own Quartier Latin. That way people could easily find it and I think
it will generate more interaction between writers and illustrators.
Mutual inspiration seems like a good thing to me.

I would appreciate to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Thanks in advance,

.....

Maybe it would help if more of us asked the same thing?

I think it would be a great idea BT theres many forms of visual art. I posted on the affore mentioned art thread and posted a couple of pix of figures I had made only to be told they were not art! I can paint and draw very well but decided not to post any of my art to such a narrow minded thread.

A more general Art Forum would be a fantastic idea even if it wasn't as popular as the AH and suchlike.

I just got back into lurking about the Lit board and stumbled upon the sticky Artists at Lit thread. Ended up posting some of my work there.

I'm all for having an Art Gallery forum. There was some damn good work on the Artist thread. I put mine out so the other amateurs wouldn't be self-conscious.

Hi Shale,

Follow the links in the sigline from BlackSnake.
All interesting threads about art are in there.

I got an answer from Laurel!

Hi ... Tulip!

Thanks for writing. This is something that definitely is worth
considering. If you can send me the title and description line you'd
like for the forum, I'll talk to Manu and see what we can do. Thanks
again, and talk soon!

:nana: :nana: :nana:

Suggestion: Visual Arts Forum

Description line: ideas anyone?

I think Shale said it very well just up above this post: The Art Gallery Forum

It sounds ambiguous enough to cover everything that could possibly go into it. JMHO :D
