Sad Days These Are...

Hello all,
it has been quite some time since I had anytime/motivation to sit down and enjoy Chyoo. I have slowly been catching up on the forum. I just finished reading this thread and it is a sad time. I see a lot of these stories up for adoption, meaning their original author is gone. I know a lot of these titles, as I have contributed threads to a good deal of them. On another note, it is good to see new writers taking over these stories. I wish everybody the best and hope things continue to move forward.

I just finished reading this thread and it is a sad time. I see a lot of these stories up for adoption, meaning their original author is gone. I know a lot of these titles, as I have contributed threads to a good deal of them. On another note, it is good to see new writers taking over these stories.

I think it's a positive that editors are stepping forward to edit these abandoned stories. Some of the stories are rather good, or at least have promising starts, and to see continued development on them is a good thing.

On that note, if anyone finds a story that they think is abandoned, let me or one of the other moderators know, and we'll look into it and see if they are indeed abandoned. If they are, then we can let you adopt it. But that task of sorting through 2000 stories looking for those without editors is daunting and four of us are going to have a hard time doing it. So, everyone, be our eyes and ears in this regard.

Do a search for last modified stories in ascending order and you will find stories that haven't been updated for two years.

You can put them up for adoption or delete those with only 1 thread.

That is how I found the new ones on the list. I eliminated from the Adoptable list those stories with too few threads (< 4 levels deep) and no pending threads. Those four stories were found in about sixty investigated.

If we want to start adopting stories with few threads and/or no pending threads, let me know and I'll change my methods.

(that "0" is a zero, not an "oh")


I used the name because it's indeterminate of gender, just in case I ever wrote a male POV story. I still haven't. ...but maybe one day I will.

You made a comment related to the quality of your writing and I think it is important to state the the only reason that anyone would every take over editor duties for a story is because the story appeared abandoned. the quality of the writing does not play into it.

Okay, I don't know about chyoo3 or anything, but the three below are my stories. For some reason "The Party" says something about correcting spelling and grammar for approval, but I was the editor on it so I'm not sure how/why that would happen. Also, when I look at the writers' lists it doesn't show my username Junglecatgigi as a writer. Soooo... anyway, ya - I've been away, but I still want my stories.

The "denied, but resubmit" was done when we looked through a huge backlog of old submissions. In order to not have hundreds of one thread stories that had been abandoned by their authors, some moderators used the "spelling and grammar fixed then resubmit" thing. Since you are here and the story is fine, I've approved it.

I was thinking, if you want, I'll adopt a chunk of stories, even though I dont have time much lately to write new threads ( as i take time doing that ) I check my email nearly every 24 hours so I could at least keep a heap of stories flowing as threads would be approved usually within a day, thus encouraging growth and I'll fix grammer ( this post is grammer crappy I know! ) etc, any genre, hopefully it could get a few more potentially good stories a chance to become good stories...? like I said, I probably wouldnt be adding much to them, but I would be keeping them up to date and "approval time" friendly!
