3.) If you came to visit me in Alabama, what would you like to see, either here or just in the American South in general? (If you just want to say "Atlanta," that's perfectly fine, lol.)
You must have missed it in another thread. She can't visit the South as she would spontaneously combust in anything over 60 degrees. LOL. Flaming Seela!

Don't they sell pantyhose where you live?
Yes they do, but it’s of little help if I’m not where I live and I need a pair of pantyhose.

Let’s not exaggerate, gracie. I’ve been known to survive temperatures in the mid 60s, too. :p
Fair enough on the atheism/agnostic front. I think as much as we think we know, we really know nothing, so agnosticism is really the most intellectually honest position to hold.

I love ASMR, but I also get a lot of tingles. Only from certain people, though. There are a few ASMR YouTubers I really adore.

I am with you on the service aspect, except for me, it's more about personal service than cooking and cleaning because I hate both of those things, lol. I keep begging Daddy to let me put him in the shower and bathe him because I love to do that, but we haven't gotten around to it yet.

High heels sound like fun, too!

I have more questions! (If you don't mind.)

1.) Coffee, tea, both, or neither?

2.) Since we're on the topic of drinks, I know you answered earlier in the thread about alcohol, but I'm curious about non-alcoholic drinks. Are you more of a water person, or do you drink sodas, too, or what?

3.) If you came to visit me in Alabama, what would you like to see, either here or just in the American South in general? (If you just want to say "Atlanta," that's perfectly fine, lol.)
Bathing someone does sound potentially fun. I’ve never done that.

Yay more questions!

1) I drink both coffee and tea, but not a huge amount of either. Sometimes I go weeks without either, and usually it’s coffee in the summer and tea in the winter for me.

2) I’m definitely a water person. Especially if I’m thirsty, I’ll pick water every time over soda or juice. It’s rare that I drink sodas or juices “without a reason”. They’re more of a special thing for me, like if I want to make a mocktail or if I’m making brunch or having breakfast out. Elderflower, rhubarb, lingonberry and black crowberry are my favorite juice flavors. For sodas I don’t even have a favorite, because it’s so rare that I drink it.

3) I know almost nothing about Alabama, so I don’t even know what I’d like to see there. Well, the big chair of course. Pretty birds and other cool animals in the wild would be fun to see. I’m sure there are lots of MLK things, I’d like to visit some of them as well because I like history and museums. I’d like to visit the coastline, too, and Mobile is the only place I know there because I watched Hart of Dixie ages ago and they often went to Mobile when they wanted to have a night out in the city. 😅

I’d be happy to go see anything you recommended. I enjoy seeing the everyday life, too. And I’d go to so many grocery stores, because I love going to foreign grocery stores. Do you have Piggly Wiggly in Alabama? I want to go to a Piggly Wiggly because damn if it isn’t the best name and logo for a grocery store.

Then we’d also just hang out, talk about languages and you’d teach me how to do make up etc. It’d be good. Unless I caught fire. Also, you’d have to be my chauffeur. 😂

I would be happy to take you to see the chair! And also a Piggly Wiggly. They closed the one in this town, but there's one the next county over.

To be honest with you, I don't think *I've* been to Mobile. I've been to the Alabama coast, but not Mobile itself. So I'd take you there, too!

ETA: Do you have any tattoos, and if so, what are they? And if you don't have any, but would like some, what would you like to have?

I don’t have any tattoos and I don’t think I ever will, unless some domly person tells me to get one. At some point I really wanted to get a tattoo, but didn’t have a clear plan of what it where, I mostly just wanted to know how it feels. Now I’m glad I didn’t get anything. I’d still like to know how it feels, though. I wonder if anybody does tattoos without ink. 😄

I think they have ink that only shows with a dark light?

Yeah, that’s true. I wouldn’t want one of those now, either.

I’d be okay having a tattoo that I regret if it meant something, but if I got a tattoo just “for no reason”, I don’t think I’d be okay with it anymore regardless of what the pic was.

Somehow getting a tattoo just to find out how it feels isn’t good enough a reason for me anymore.

2) I don’t get the ASMR tingles, no. I’ve experienced it with one person and it was my grade 7-9 PE teacher. A few times a semester we’d do relaxation exercises in PE, and when my teacher guides us through the exercise, I’d get the tingly feeling that I later learned is an ASMR response. It always started from the top of my head and then went through the body. I was very confused by it and asked the teacher what it was but she said that I was just probably going numb or something. 😆

I’ve never experienced it since. Some ASMR vids are very relaxing, though, and I sometimes watch or rather listen to them if I need to calm down, but it’s rare. Sexy ASMR could be fun, too. Like whispering dirty, sexy things into someone’s ear or having them whispered into mine. I could be game!

I’ve sometimes wondered if I’ve managed to trigger anybody’s ASMR response like the teacher did mine. That would be fun to know.
Well after that old ASMR thread was bumped, I have to amend this answer. According to my post there, there have been other people than my PE teacher who’s triggered that response, but I can’t really remember any other specific times than the relaxation exercises in school PE classes, because those were a constant. It happened every time.

I’m not sure if that’s ASMR or not, but if it is, my trigger is very specific. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you been invited to party at the Prime Ministers residence seela?

If you are invited, would you do a topless photo? (you could post the photo here!).

Yes and no. :)

Edit: it wasn’t that kind of a party that’s been talked about in media recently but it was a party anyways with drinks, food, music and nice people.

Do you have a favorite vacation spot, or do you prefer to explore somewhere new each time? :)

A bit of both. There are lots and lots of places that I’ve never been to that I’d love to visit. It’s always exciting to visit a new place, so I try to squeeze in trips to somewhere new regularly.

But there are also lots I have a few places that I like to visit often. Visiting a place that I’ve been to before and loved is comforting and relaxes me in a way that visiting a completely new place doesn’t. It takes so little effort to be in a place that’s familiar, but because it’s still a definite change in scenery compared to my daily life, it’s just the perfect, relaxing break.

Some places I visit quite frequently:

1) Warsaw. Ah, I’m always up for a trip to Warsaw, lovelovelove it. I’ve tried to visit at least every couple of years.

2) Tallinn. It’s an easy, short trip for me so I’ve often gone there for a day or two just to eat yummy food and to check out nice art.

3) Tampere. Also an easy, short trip for me. I have a favorite hotel there, some nice museums, theaters, fun industrial city vibes, always something new to check out.

4) Germany as a whole. I’ve never not had a good time in Germany and had one of my most formative unpleasant-and-confusing-at-the-moment-but-so-important experiences there, too. It’s always easy and comfortable but there’s something fun going on, new things to find and different parts of the country offer very different vibes. So many new things to experience still, because I haven’t traveled that extensively there so far.

I love hearing about a whole list of places I've never been. When you're an ocean away (and haven't been to Europe enough) it's hard to get away from the major destinations first (other than the mountains I need to frequent). Would be amazing to have the time to travel around to some of places not at the top of the guidebook for international travelers.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s easy to get stuck in the places everyone “must” see.

A friend had a visitor from abroad and we had a lot of fun coming up with things for them to see and do together. The visitor was really happy with the trip too, said it was very different from their expectations but in a very good way. Lots of things you wouldn’t find in guidebooks.

It was also cool to hear how excited they were about tiny things that we take for granted. Or how weird they found them, that was also interesting. ☺️

Yes, I still remember when my friend and I played hooky from the regular, scheduled excursions in Moscow and looked at subway stations all day, eating at a kolkhoz market at one of the end stations.
It was one of those ”just a perfect day”-days you always remember with a smile.

This brings me to my question:
Do you have of those ”just a perfect day”-days you always remember with a smile, that you’d like to tell us about?

I don’t think of perfect days, but I do think about how I wouldn’t change anything after the fact. Even when things do wrong.

I just got back from a trip to South America. There were plenty of amazing (maybe perfect) things I’ll never forget, but there were also some roadblocks and mishaps. Looking back, I would change a thing, I was all part of the adventure, which is what I signed up for. So even the challenges now produce a smile (even if they didn’t at the time)

What a great question and I saw you asked the same in other AMAs too, so I’m really looking forward to reading people’s answers.

I have perfect days that always make me smile, yes! Some make me smile and feel sad at the same time, because I miss the people, places and even myself that I was then, but some make me smile with absolute pure joy.

One perfect day was ages and ages ago when I lived in Slovakia.

Backstory: I had a pen pal from Slovakia when I was a kid and we kept in touch off and and on all the way into adulthood, and still check in on each other every few years, actually. He had moved to work in Canada when I moved to Slovakia and we hadn’t have that much contact before it for a few years. We did write little emails when I first moved and he encouraged me to write in Slovak with him, too. It was great for learning the language at the beginning.

Anyway, the perfect day. It was in the spring and there was this big cultural event in town. I went to a castle with friends and we had a picnic there. Trees were filling with light green baby leaves and some were in bloom, the river looked calm, it was sunny and warm but still very crisp, that perfect spring weather. I was so incredibly content.

Then my phone rang and it was my old pen pal calling me from Canada. It was the first time we ever spoke on the phone and he had never heard me speak Slovak. We had dropped contact a little by that time and he didn’t really know what the situation with my language skills was but he started in Slovak anyway and we talked for about 15 minutes, in Slovak, about everything going on etc. It was my first long phone call in Slovak, so I’ll never forget it. He was really surprised that I could actually hold a conversation because he had only seen my very early attempts and only in writing.

(When I told about his reaction to the friends having the picnic, one of them was completely deadpanned. “But you speak Slovak all day long now, what’s the big whoop, you spoke a few minutes.” 😄 Which was true, but my pen pal of course didn’t know I didn’t particularly struggle with Slovak anymore. My friend’s nonchalant reaction was so on brand and funny, still makes me laugh.)

After the picnic at the castle, we checked out a few art things and a history museum because it was free entry. It was just a lovely, lovely day. Then in the evening I was in a jazz concert on the main square, standing in the crowd, feeling an immense sense of belonging. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, everything felt absolutely perfect.

It really was the perfect day and thinking about it fills me with happiness every time. Thanks for asking, loved starting my Saturday thinking about this. ☺️

Yes, I posted the same in all AMA threads that came up as similar threads.

Yes, there’s always a least a little hint of melancolia I think, sometimes a lot like in the song.

Thanks for asking, loved starting my Saturday thinking about this. ☺️

I’m glad that I posted then.

How fun these AMA threads have been bumped. Getting a peek into places and lives!!

What was the last delicious thing you cooked?

Do you have a cooking disaster story?

Hey there! I was just thinking about you yesterday, how our paths haven’t crossed for a while. :)

The last delicious thing I cooked was harissa eggplant yesterday, but that’s the run of the mill, every day deliciousness. Extra special deliciousness that I don’t experience so often was white chocolate and red currant tart with burnt butter crust. That was very good.

The first cooking disaster that popped in my head is actually a baking disaster. J and I had were still in the early stages of our relationship and I wanted to impress him and bake a cake, because it was a holiday. I made a three tiered cake, put it in the fridge and all was well. Except my fillings were not the right texture and it had made the cake soggy, lopsided and just all around impossible. So, when I told J to open the fridge to find his surprise, the top tier of the cake slid off and down onto the floor.

It certainly did surprise J, so mission accomplished.
