Are you interested in the Olympic Games this year?

If so, what games are you interested in following?

What was the farthest you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone to be nice to someone?

I’m not that interested in the olympics, but I’ll probably watch bits and pieces that I happen to run into. There aren’t any particular events I’d especially keep my eye out for so that I don’t miss them. In the winter olympics I like to watch curling, but I don’t have any favorites for the summer games. During the last olympics I watched fencing, that was kinda nice, I remember.

That second question is hard!

Maybe the time when I stayed in a place where I didn’t want to live in for another extra year just to be kind. I basically put my life on hold for a year, and while it did eventually work out ok, I’ve regretted it afterwards.

For less life altering things, I said yes to being in a play about a week before opening night when they were in dire need of a replacement. I don’t do theater or singing/playing an instrument for a paying audience, or rather for any audience, and there I did it all just to be nice. On the flip side, my character got to read porn mags from the 60s and 70s, so that was fun. They were super strange but interesting. For the mags to be allowed to be published, they had to have a certain percentage of non-smut content. One article was about seal clubbing…

Thanks for the questions! :)

You’re quite welcome🌹

What is it about Literotica that keeps you coming back here?

What do enjoy most about the BDSM lifestyle?

What is something about another Litster that would spark sincere interest within you for them?

You’re quite welcome🌹

What is it about Literotica that keeps you coming back here?

It's become a habit, I think that's what keeps me here for the most part. I'm not on any other social media besides Lit except for Twitter, and Twitter isn't quite the same for me. For one, my Twitter presence is rather specific, I don't tweet too many rambly things. Here I can blurt all the random thoughts that cross my mind and have little conversations sometimes. There's a variety of topics here and I can also talk about BDSM stuff when the mood strikes.

What do enjoy most about the BDSM lifestyle?

I'm not sure it's really a lifestyle for me. It's just something that gets my rocks of and it's a big part of who I am, but I doubt anybody who sees me or knows me would say that BDSM is my lifestyle. I see myself a lot less through a BDSM lens than I used to.

I'm submissive, it's where I'm at my most comfortable. In recent years I've learned that I can be and do different things as well, but I never want to take on a dominant role in any aspect of my life unless it's necessary. BDSM has allowed me to find vocabulary for the things that I enjoy and that make me me. I enjoy the release, the structure, the control, the ability to spin something mundane into something really sexy and fun.

What is something about another Litster that would spark sincere interest within you for them?

This is a hard one. I usually get to know people on the boards and post with them for a long, long time before any PMs are exchanged and it's extremely rare that I'm the first to PM anyone, especially if I don't already talk with that person on threads with some regularity.

In the general, friendly interest sense, mentions of cities/countries that are special to me spark an interest. Talking about languages and grammar. Science stuff. In past cooking and food talk has worked well to spark my interest. I've probably made most of my Lit friends over the years in the cooking thread.

There are/have been people who I've found interesting in the sexy realm as well. In those cases it's been a particular kink (not going to name the kinks here, sorry) that's tempted me and sparked the interest. I've never let those people know they sparked a sexy interest in me. Once I almost PMed a person for that reason, but I couldn't come up with anything non-stupid to say so I didn't. Ha. :D

Would you consider yourself a bit shy?

In what languages are you fluent? (I always wanted to know more than one, for myself)

What is one thing about yourself that you admire?

I am LOVING that the wonderful BCC has been so loquacious to find out everything about the pulchritudinous seela!

... looking up what loquacious means ...

... and pulchritudinous ...

That's the last time I pick words out of my head and hope for the best.

Let's make this extra interesting while giving you a good segue (only recently learned that word!) into one of BCC's questions:

Beth yw dy hoff air di yn Gymraeg? Peidiwch â defnyddio "pannas"!

Would you consider yourself a bit shy?
I'm very shy!

In what languages are you fluent? (I always wanted to know more than one, for myself)
I'd say other than my native language, I'm only truly fluent in English. I make mistakes in English that a native speaker would never make, yes, but it's a language that I can use with relative ease in both writing and speaking and cover many topics. It doesn't take too much of an effort for me to function in English.

My German and a few other languages are pretty good as well, but not the same level as English. I feel comfortable speaking the languages (especially German, I could speak German allllllll day, it suits me), but I can't cover the same range of topics as in English, I'm much less familiar with different registers of the language and I make more mistakes.

When I spend a longer period of time in a country where one of my stronger languages is spoken and/or I'm exposed to the language regularly, they become much more fluent very fast. Especially Polish and Slovak.

What is one thing about yourself that you admire?

Gosh, I don't think I admire anything about myself. :D

Lucky you I've just learned imperative last week or I wouldn't have understood the second sentence and probably would have answered pannas.

Let's see now.

Mae'n anodd dewis un gair. Dw i'n hoffi "llyfrgell", gan dw i'n hoffi llyfrgelledd (llyfgrelloedd, llyfrgellydd? Dw i ddim yn siwr beth mae'r ffurf luosog o "llyfrgell"). Dw i'n mwynhau ddweud y gair hynny hefyd. :) Dw i'n mwynhau "cenhinen" hefyd. Maen cennin yn flasus a'r gair yn edrych yn braf.

For the non Welsh speakers (as if I'm one, haha)...

I was asked what my favorite Welsh word is and I was told not to answer "pannas", which means parsnips.

My answer: It's difficult to choose one. I like "llyfrgell" [library] because I like libraries. I also like saying that word. I also like "cenhinen" [leek]. Leeks are tasty and the word looks nice. (And in parentheses I go through a couple of possible plural endings for library because I'm not sure which one is correct for "llyfrgell".)

Edit: I can't believe I forgot archfarchnad (supermarket)! That's a cool word and I know the plural is archrachnadoedd, so I should have picked that. :p

What is a guilty pleasure of yours some may consider strange?

Do you have a best friend on Lit?

What is your favorite dish to cook?

What is something you do for a hobby that is pretty impressive?

Hmm. I don't really believe in guilty pleasures.

I genuinely like Sister Act 1 and 2. I associate such great times with the movies that I can't not like them. This is something people find strange mostly because they're not really movies people would associate with me.

Many (most?) people outside certain countries find it very strange that I love licorice and salty licorice, especially combined with chocolate.

Do you have a best friend on Lit?
Not really. Iris probably knows the most about me from the current Litsters and we're in contact off Lit as well. Meeks knows me pretty well, too. There have been a few people that I've really bonded with over the years that don't come around anymore, too.

What is your favorite dish to cook?
It varies a lot. I usually go through periods of cooking one type of food and then moving on to something else. Recently I've enjoyed asparagus in many forms.

What is something you do for a hobby that is pretty impressive?
I don't have any real hobbies currently besides learning languages, doing crosswords and geocaching.

I used to play the recorder and krumhorn, which people usually laughed at and then were pretty impressed when they heard me play. Maybe that counts?

Edit: Oh, I solve the International Linguistics Olympiad problems for fun! Is that impressive? :D

Impressive as fuck.

Oh, and a question:
When you look at your family, can you see some of the same personality traits or relationship roles that led you to become interested in BDSM, in other family members?
Sorry, but I can’t quite put words on it?

Ooh, great question! You know, this is something I've wondered about a lot.

The first encounters beyond my own imagination I had with bdsm were from porn mags I found at the attic of my grandparents' house. My grandparents were both dead by then and I'm not sure whose the mags were, but there was some very, very filthy and niche stuff there. I've ofter wondered whose the mags were. Clearly someone on my dad's side of the family has had similar leanings that I have, but I have no idea who.

I think my mom calls the shots in the relationship with my dad. Dad does what she tells him to, but at the same time dad has always been the one to say the final word when my mom has told that what he says goes. I could imagine them having some sort of an unconscious D/s thing going, but I really don't want to think about it too closely. :D

I can see some of the same traits in me as in my mom, but they manifest a little differently. We're both the care taking type, whereas my sister isn't. I generally enjoy doing the more menial house keeping tasks, because I spin it as service in my head. My mom is always the first to jump to doing the tasks, but when she does, she makes a big deal out of it and lets everyone know she's not enjoying it and takes on a martyr role. My sister hates everything to do with that sorts of things.

I think the difference between me and my mom is that I have always grown up knowing that men can clean and cook (although my dad wasn't ever a good cook, but at least he participated in some capacity) and take care of what's too often considered feminine tasks as well, whereas for my mom it was always dictated from the outside - she was expected to do those things because she was a woman and she was the eldest kid in her childhood family.

So all in all, I'm not sure. Such a good question though, I wonder if this could be a topic to a thread.

Thank you for the thoughtful answer!

You’ll have to help me put it in words then.
Not tonight though. I’m doing my best boa impersonation and spending time with Mr Morningstar.

Alrighty, my question of the day.

If you could go to any single place, at any single moment of time, what and where would you go?

Alrighty, my question of the day.

I'd check out the big bang, but of course it's not completely clear if it can be considered a place or a moment of time.

Another possible answer would be Bratislava, Hlavné Námestie, April 2006. I was alone in a crowd, standing there listening to live jazz, the weather was pleasantly warm, the sky was a wonderful shade of dark blue, I looked at the sky and felt incredibly happy because that moment everything was absolutely perfect.

Perfect. Is this where you go in your seelabrain when you want to relax?

Who took the Bomp from the Bompalompalomp?

A world without chocolate or a world without coffee?

Perfect. Is this where you go in your seelabrain when you want to relax?

Relax, what's that?

But it's a very nice memory, and whenever I see the sky being the same color as then, I think of that moment and it makes me smile every time. It's so rare that I've felt like I belong, but that moment I did and everything was perfect.

Who took the Bomp from the Bompalompalomp?
Okay, so I thought about this a little. And the answer is that Big Oil is behind this grand theft! Wanna know why?

It makes sense that the person who took the Bomp from the Bompalompalomp is the same person who took the Ram from the Ramalamadingdong, right? Because what are the odds that there'd be two separate culprits? Señor Occam's shaving tool and a slew of Nancy Drew mysteries say nary a chance! So I started to think about who would take the Ram, and I found something veeeery interesting.

The Edsels, the original coiners of Rama Lama Ding Dong, were first called The Essos, but then named themselves after the famed lemon of Ford, dud of Denver, Edsel.

Esso/ExxonMobil held a grudge for decades because of the name change until they decided to avenge by stealing the ram. Think about it. Esso would have gotten so much free PR when Rama Lama Ding Dong became a hit if the group had kept their original name. No wonder the Big Oil fat cats were all salty for years.

Mystery solved. Next!

A world without chocolate or a world without coffee?
Without coffee. I don't drink coffee very much, so I could do without any quite easily. I mean, I love a good cup of mud every now and again, but it's not a need for me.

But let's take care of the climate, the bees and the plant diversity and keep a world with both, please!

Jinkies! It’s Mr. Esso! Scooby snacks all around!

BUT — what if the “ram” in the song referred to the Dodge Ram truck — as Q’s April 16, 2018 post suggests? Then it would behoove Big Oil to leave it out there, burning dinosaur juice and baking the planet — rather than steal it. Hmm…UNLESS they stole the Ram just to throw people off the scent, and to demonize eco-activists, kind of the direction “The Bridge” season 2 seems to be going (no spoilers please).

Podcast?

I didn’t see that coming. I woulda thought your latitude mandated alien-blood quality java.

Seela, thank you for your forthcoming answers here today before this committee.

That is an excellent observation, and it it’s straight from Q, it absolutely must be true.

Are you free to do that podcast this weekend? This seems like an urgent matter. The truth needs to be heard!!!

Seela, thank you for your forthcoming answers here today before this committee.
Well my people are (one of, if not the) biggest consumers of java per capita in the world, so your expectation was not unfounded. But I don’t drink coffee every day, and when I do, it’s usually just one of those dainty coffee cups worth and not a big mug. Or if it’s a bigger mug that I’m using as my vessel, it’s usually equal parts oat milk and coffee.

Your mislabeled map of Europe made me think of this question... From a semi-ignorant American perspective, there doesn't seem to be much difference between all the Scandinavian countries. They tend to get clustered together (at least they do in my head) as sort of all having very similar cultures, languages (I know Finnish is something of an outlier there), philosophies, political systems, etc.

What would you say are some of the biggest differences between those countries that a complete foreigner to the area might not pick up on?

seela! Go all Kalmar Union on this. Then Whiskeyjack can feel safe about a historic clustering of the Scandinavian countries!
