Welcome Back! Huggggggggs!

What is the quickest way to get you to smile?

A sincere greeting from the right person usually does it.
What is your pet peeve? (Something that always gets under your skin, not in a good way)

People who speak in absolutes (JK). Anyone who has not learned to laugh at themselves.
When was your last gut wrenching belly laugh?

I believe that the PUN is the HIGHEST form of humour. Also videos on IMGUR of Dogs and Cats, because, honestly, of all the animals we could have domesticated, we picked the most entertaining. My year old Lab can catch his own tail regularly, like 99 times out of 100. And he's always more surprised than me.

Oh, and this pic I saw on IMGUR of the three Stooges in and out of character. Larry looks like a hitman. Curly looks like the Hitman's boss. Moe looks like the
the Cop after them...

What do you like to dip your chips (fries) in?

Ah, a philosophical question.

Nothing weird. I am not from Northern Ontario (gravy AND ketchup is common) or Manitoba (Mayo, yeah, you read that right: mayo), and as much as I like Poutine once in a while (cuz I am a Good Canadian Boy at heart) I favour ketchup or malt vinegar (with fish and chips).

Yep, boooooring

What does a typical Saturday look like for you?

Where will your next EXTRAVAGANT vacation be? Will you take your grandson with you?

When was the last time George did something to make you laugh? What was it?

Where was your best vacation that comes to mind first?

What’s your favorite sweets treat?

Grocery shopping early, then "rounds" (drug store, liquor store, hardware store, butcher, etc). I try to pursue one of my hobbies in the afternoon. (Often with my GS). Saturday is usually my day to cook, it will be BBQ almost every Saturday until mid-November.

We are planning a trip to the UK in 2024 for her brother's 60th. Yes, our GS will be there...

He brought the cat a large "Kong" type toy because he would like the cat to play with him. The cat is almost 14, grumpy and he does not play (unless he thinks nobody is watching).
Where was your best vacation that comes to mind first?

A small cottage on a fairly remote Northern Ontario Lake. Peace, quiet and Loons.
What’s your favorite sweets treat?

Chocolate. Almost any kind. :D

I assume you me a good surprise? So the encounters with bears don't count?

For my 60th birthday most of the office (men and women) wore red checkered / plaid flannel shirts (I wear that a lot in the winter; my b'day is the end of November) and there was a red flannel shirt cake. Blew me away.

What is the best way to approach someone on Lit?

Being male, what are some things you see females do on Lit that is like an irritating itch to you?

If you could build your own social media platform like Facebook but with decent leadership, what would you name it?

Horror (Stephen King is a better writer than he gets credit for), Murder mysteries (I really enjoy the old Travis McGee stories), Historical non-fiction: Canadian History is not taught well here. It is way more interesting than I had been told in school. Somebody should make a movie about Sgt Sam Steel of the RCMP. Or the Battle of Ortona, or okay, I'm rambling again... Pasta with a nice home-made marinara and hot Italian sausages from the local butcher. Oh, and lots of Chianti.

The location is a problem. It has to be appealing, offer opportunities for serious discussion (say a big table or a lounge) and debauchery (lots of horizontal surfaces and attachment points). It also needs to be accessible from all over North America, Europe and Australia and New Zealand. It needs to be warm for those who choose casual nudity. As much as I would love to suggest a lodge in Northern Ontario, I think a white sand beach in the Caribbean. Or better yet: A Sailing ship in the Caribbean, stopping at unnamed keys and kays for lazy afternoons.

I would hope that anyone who could afford the flight would come. It won't be the same without everyone.

Or...given the current realities, a Zoom, Team Meeting or Skype Litogether might be more appropriate. That would let the shy folks continue to keep their faces hidden.
I don't have a question for you. I loved John D. MacDonald's - Travis McGee So much so that when I heard the author was thinking of ending the series I searched for months to find the title so I could have the complete series.

A certain popularly attractive someone needs to clear out his inbox/outgoing messages box.

Thank you my friend. I fixed that.

What is the best way to approach someone on Lit?

-Something other than "hi"

-Definitely not a stream of consciousness of your darkest fantasies laced with obscenities.

-Not a cheesy pick up line (Is it hot in here or is it just you) unless it is clear that you are having a bit of fun.

-Definitely not a shot of your junk. Although, unsolicited boob pictures are encouraged lol.

-A simple observation or comment on a posting they made is a good start.

-A sincere compliment.

Being male, what are some things you see females do on Lit that is like an irritating itch to you?

Posting on "show us your face" and removing it exactly 3 minutes before I get there lol.

Honestly, I don't interact with people who annoy me
If you could build your own social media platform like Facebook but with decent leadership, what would you name it?

The Revolutionary Ad-free Space for Exchanging Ideas and Talking With Friends Without the Need for Censorship Because Only Intelligent, Thoughtful People Are Allowed Site.

I might have to work on that...

Now you’re at over 3 pages.

How do intend to celebrate it?...lol

Quietly :)

Well, its my thread, so I get to answer even if there is no question...

The books are the epitome of 60s cool. And they have a surprising environmental twist to them. I think MacDonald read Silent Spring and saw what was happening to his beloved River of Grass and gave McGee an environmental conscience to go with his TEAC reel-to-reel and Roll-Royce pickup truck. You will notice if you are a fan of South Florida-set fiction that he heavily influences Carl Hiaasen among others. Sadly, although the Bahia Marr marina is real, there is no Slip F-18 any more, following a renovation. :(

I generally re-read one every summer. Maybe The Deep Blue Goodbye or A Tan and Sandy Silence this summer.
