My fav saying on the messy-ness of it - is what goes in must come out. If you use a condom it's not as bad. But I do feel I am in the bathroom a lot the next day - and I always blame hubby, even if I was the one to initiate anal sex!

I used to do it all the time to my ex. Years ago. Never got an infection. I would guess people who normaly catch infections to the skin, poison ivy and what not are probably more at risk. I never caught anything and never used a condom.
