Another Foolish Same Title Challenge

I wish I could have a vision of something else... everyones are going to be so similar, I think.

I wanted to write one about Foucalts Pendulum going awry, but I'll leave that sort of thing to Lauren. Or Cordelia.

Whoa. I thought you guys completely forgot about me...

Heh.

Maybe I'll even try to write something.

Absently,

Cordelia

Memory Jogger....

Not the kind of jogger that Charley was thinking about ..... :D

I'll have to take a raincheck. My computer is ill and won't be repaired till late next week. I'm sharing ee's pc till then, so I make no promises about if and when I can participate in anything here.

Sorry Fooly my friend. Sigh. Another challenge, perhaps.

We can't do 'em all. We can try though.....

Okay- so we submit and ask for it to be posted on the 16th for the challenge? Anything else I need to know, since this is my first challenge?

I will never forget you, Cordy.

Come home.

Bumping for those who are trying to pretend they forgot about this challenge!

I'm just about to post mine. No extra credits, though. :(

My time has been limited so I'm still working on one.

I'm doing it for the fun and challenge of the challenge. It will be a better late than never contribution.

:D

My bad triolet I was too embarassed to submit:

I see the broken sway and I am reeling
I wonder who else can see its chime
Does it bend for me or is it just a feeling?
I see the broken sway and I am reeling
Questioning, knowing, I will always be alone in dealing
Life will reveal its mysteries in its own time
I see the broken sway and I am reeling,
I wonder who else can see its chime.

That's not bad at all! It's good. Well done.

I missed the deadline so I'll stick mine in here.

The Pendulum Swings Awry.

I wonder why that damn thing swung awry.
Did some celestial storm blow it from its course?
We may never have the peace of knowing why
I wonder why that damn thing swung awry.
The milk is spilled and all we do is cry
and moan about our fate that unknown force
I wonder why that damn thing swung awry
Did some celestial wind blow it from its course?

Pendulum Swings Awry

“I ache in the places I used to play”
Leonard Cohen

In youth I thought to age with grace
embrace new wrinkles smilingly
and those ghostly spots I saw
on the back of more experienced hands
a mentor once said “hot flashes
are a sensuous thing” and I was ready
to accept but fate threw a spanner
in the works sent the pendulum swinging
wide of its plotted course
age invaded before its time.
with bone weariness haunting me
stubbornly refusing all benefit from sleep
leaving me fighting to accomplish
simple things once familiar now strange
phantom fingers come sometimes tickling
sometimes pinching painfully behind
my eyes along my spine.
feet refuse to lift where once they danced
drag despondently and hands
always so reliable strain to reach
grasp hold on hold on
because that’s all that’s left
except the knowledge that
my mind still functions allowing me
to watch it happening.

“Go not gentle into that good night”
Dylan Thomas

Or me? ;)

Pendulum Swings Awry

The pendulum swings
awry
awry
awry
ticking over small
balsa pegs, marking
time for God
or Foucault,
anyway.

Tracing, retracing
one firm line
in the aether for
the world to loop
languidly 'round.

(Not exactly what you said, but it has Foucault anyway.)

I wanted to think all who played. It is always fun to see the different takes on a single word or phrase.

Now somebody else has to come up with a new one. :D

The weight drags the golden chain along an arc drawn across the sky
back the pendulum swings and takes a twist that brings it out of line
in a catenary parabolic arch and curve, time skews and slips awry.
The weight drags the golden chain along an arc drawn across the sky
and as I watch that rhythmic slip I'm certain I can see time fly.
I doubt that this can be sort out with a bit of wax and baling twine.

<ahem> ... this is the one I wrote a while back, on page 1.

THIS IS IT? (like I can talk? ) I will read them all.

Pendulum Swings Awry

It looks like time is passing
the pendulum swings
and I wait
wondering
looking.

It jogs and justles
twitches and twangs
and it bounces when
it bobs out
of my mouth

then it swings again
whats wrong with it?
why does it swing
awry
with no direction?

I clasp it with
my lips
and no matter the depth
it still
has its own mind

awry. "Ok," I smile,
and swing it
one cheek to another
let it slip
let it slither

Better.
Harder and faster
a slink it over
my tongue
"Awry?"

This pendulum swings
in tune
in time
and solidly it licks
until it clicks

twisting a paint of
white in my
direction.
Oh, how the pendulum
comes alive!

Bump - it could be better, but its still fun for a five minute thought and write.

Sorry...

Hi everyone... It's your wanna be poet, here. I wish I had seen this earlier. The works here are great. I may try this on my own time anyway and see what happens. I hope that's okay with you guys.

Besides, someone has to put a bad work in. If not me, then who? :D
