Anyone for a nightcap?

I have been craving a good bloody mary for awhile now, and when I say good, I mean home made sauce that is perfect. It has been years since I have had a great one. I can sit and drink them all night long, then clothes start coming off.
:D

Sounds like you have your weekend sorted! :D

Not quite a nightcap, but it's been a day. Master made delicious spiced rum and Mexican Coke cocktails. Tasty!

(For those who might not know, Mexican Coke is made with pure sugar only, none of the other sweeteners. Tastes like it tasted when I was a kid.)

Nikka Whisky From the Barrel and Yamazaki 12 yo.

Both make for some splendid whisky-ing, even if they lack the smokiness and heavy peatiness that I love. Nikka smells smoky, but tastes fruity, Yamazaki smells fruitier, but the taste is a lot more "foggy".

Nikka is by far my favorite of these two, but like I said, both make for some fine drinking.

Where's the smiley for envy? I like my whisky a bit smoky too.

Laphroaig is my preferred house whisky.

Laphroaig is really high on my fave list as well. I love it how the taste makes sort of a loop on my tongue when I sip it. There was one French beer that did the same loopy thing (with different tastes, naturally), but unfortunately I've forgotten the name of it and even rigorous googling hasn't helped me.

Nikka was maybe the best non-Islay I've ever had, or at least for a long, long time. Highly recommended. :)

I'll see if I can find some place to try it. I did try som Japanese whisky that I liked but I think it might have been Yamazaki.

I'm an Islay friend too.
My husband speaks highly of the Swedish Mackmyra whisky, but I'm not sure I trust him with that kind of thing :D. He's a non-smokey kind of guy.
Have you tried it?

Never tried any Swedish whisky, but I've tried some Finnish Teerenpeli whisky. It was very non-smokey too, not a favorite.

Gin with elderflower soda and lime. No idea if there's some fancy name for it, probably is.

I hate cocktails, but this one I like. :)

True story: I asked J if he had any ideas for a cocktail of any sorts that we could make with what we have at home right now. His first reaction? "That's a strange craving for you. Are you pregnant? You really shouldn't be drinking if you are." That's how rare it is for me to have any kind of a cocktail.

For tonight: Conundrum Red (California, 2012). I remember having a glass of the Conundrum Cabernet once when I was working in northern California. Only lately have I been seeing this label around here. Looking forward to it.

In a bubble bath, sipping a red of some sort, from a mason jar (as my last wine glass broke ages ago).

How's that for specific?

2012 Cupcake, Red Velvet (the red blend).
It was normally $15, on sale for $10.
Overpriced at $15 in my opinion, but a good deal at $10.
It's exactly what I like in a red blend. The label says chocolate, blackberry, red fruits, with a mocha finish. That about covers it. Yummy!

I like the Cupcake label for midweek table wines. I can usually find them for $8.99 on sale, and I think they're usually about $11 regularly here. You must have high sin taxes down your way.

Your description intrigued me, so I picked up a bottle of this today while I was at the grocery store (on sale for $8.99). I don't know if I'll open it tonight, but definitely by the weekend!

I am craving Amaretto in steamed milk. Odd, because that's a cold-weather thing for me, and (please, east coast US folk, don't hate me) it is decidedly NOT cold here, but at least it's raining. But we don't have Amaretto. :(

I've never heard of this, much less tried it. What kind of ratio do you use between the milk and the Amaretto?

Small/standard coffee cup of milk and a shot of Amaretto. Warm & smooth. Looks pretty in a highball glass if you drizzle the Amaretto over the back of a spoon.
