Are you a lurker?

Are you a lurker? Do you spend time reading, perhaps even messaging people but never really post? Or maybe you post a lot in one forum but lurk around in others?

I have to admit I'll read through a thread, which takes me to another thread, which takes me to someone's profile and suddenly an hour's gone by.

Fess up.... do you lurk?

Totally.

Always have been, but now more than before.

I just don't have the emotional energy to get involved the way I used to.

Does PM'ing work in getting the direct conversations going?

Sometimes but the hit rate is low for a guy to a girl i think. I try to respond to most PM's even if its guys. but i have met some great people when i show them i look at posts and we have shared interests.

Your photo thread has had me lurking too...I've been working on photos lately and will try to post some when I get a chance, with your permission.
Please please please post Cascadia pics on the Cascadia thread! I love it when others contribute to that thread. Makes me feel less alone in my little non porn gallery thread... Or as DGE calls it: "truly green porn" lol ;)
See you there soon I hope!

I would post pics but I do not even know where Cascadia is:confused:

Or am I missing something and being completely obtuse

even highlighting shared interests its a low hit rate.

guess thats what you get when the ratio is so beneficial to women :)

Totally non-snarky question: have you asked women what would make a difference? :)

I'm asking because I look for very specific things, based on what kind of interaction i most enjoy. Perhaps other women do, as well?

just went to the gallery and got the explanation. I did not know there was an area named Cascadia so I learned something.

No but i have read enough on here that i thought i was doing the right thing. you know compliments, not unsolicited dick pics, read their profile etc.

you got some tips?

I guess I am a lurker but I'm trying to reach out more.

Judge told me that I could no longer just stare through the windows. If you were the one who turned me in, the court mandated apology letter is in the mail.

I can only tell you what I like. :)

And it depends on what your goals are, and who your target audience is.

fair. trying to guess what a person likes is hard. So when you reference their likes from their activity you figure you might get a hit!

So what do you like...or is that a private conversation.

Yes, I do think that is a good approach, at least in part. :)

I would be happy to share with you my own thoughts on what catches my eye if you want to pm me.

You know, I think they leave the curtains open the better to lure lurkers near to leer...since you're already caught and convicted, may as well come on into the Cafe and join the cheer...

Grins...
I believe you are off to a good start for the new year if you have already learned something new.

Me too! And my word, what a place. It's comforting to see in our sometimes ugly epoch that there's still a lot of beauty to be found.

You just made my day. :)
I created the Cascadia thread to share some of the beauty I am blessed to live within.
Please visit as often as you need a dose of beauty and peace.

You're quite welcome, it really is beautiful.

I'm making my way through some Jack London stories at the moment, which are often set in the Yukon country. So I'll be mentally borrowing some of these photos to use as backgrounds while I'm reading :)

Actually, you're right - here seems to be a good place to lurk around and even post once in a while. You both are among good company.
