Are you a lurker?

Guilty. But only because I'm new and don't want to be a gatecrasher. Also, because I'm supposed to be working, so if I'm not posting, I'm really not here. Right?

This made me spit my wine over my keyboard, I laughed so suddenly. A thought that has run thru my head a few times.
I do lurk a lot and some days never write a thing. Other days if my mood is right I can add quite a few comments.
I'd say I am about 80% lurker and 20% chatter.

I used to be a regular but now I am an irregular lurker. The D/s dynamic in my relationship has changed quite a bit so I don't have much to say anymore. But this place meant a lot to me once upon a time so I keep coming back.

I think that's me too, though some days I nip in, comment a few times and nip off v quick, others I stay logged in all day, and then check out new posts at intervals so it can look like I lurked forever!

Today's a nip and check day ;)

How about 60% lurk / 40% post just so I have more posts in which to lurk. :) Do you lurk in the same places or all over the place?

It's cool this place means a lot to you. :rose:

Nip and check. I like that this sounds a little dirty

Nice to meet you!

I suppose in many ways I could call myself a lurker, mainly because I often find threads I enjoy reading that I don't really have anything to add to. This has the effect of me being familiar with a lot of threads I've never posted in. Lurking by default, in a way.

That was for the "gender-neutral profiles" bit. I'm pretty much incapable of lurking for long.

I like looking at all profiles out of curiousoty... do I get a glimpse of who you are? That comes out in posts much more though.

Hi! I do that too - and you become familiar with names and their respective points of view. Entertainment value.

Lurking can lead to a little behind the scenes action too, right? Ive sent PMs to people whose posts were interesting but we never interacted in a thread.

So lurking can lead to good conversation, right?!

I guess it is slightly naughty, but that seems ok on here! I also got to thinking that sometimes I have not the time or device to seek out gifs or links in the way some posters do, and posting just 'mmm that's nice' comments all the time feels like cheating so then I do just lurk away

Do you always show that you are online or hide your status? That is real lurking!

:)

I use invisible mode, not because I want to lurk unseen, but when I used to show online I received unsolicited attention. I think a lot of women here behave in the same way for the same reason. The assistance in lurking is merely a happy by-product ;)

Understandable but slightly sad that there is such an issue on a site that ought to be able to allow and promote equality of thought and deed. As a man on here there are occasions where I have seen a series of posts made by a woman and dropped a polite note to enquire if a pm conversation would be of interest. If not, or no reply, that's fine and all polite and well brought up men should do the same imho.

Enjoy lurking, today is not much of a posting day, but staying logged in for a change! :)

I too use invisible mode for the same reasons as Lally. However, I am genuinely pleased to receive PMs from people when they are polite and conversational.
When I was here and not in invisible mode the number of random trolling hook up PMs I received just became too annoying. I wish it had not been so.

These days I still get quite a few PMs, but they are of the type generally as you describe. :rose:

Invisible too, on the good advice of some of the ladies here. Most of my PMs have been good. 70%?
I have ignored a few, especially if I don't interact with you in a thread.

Yes. This too. Posting history tells me a lot . If I've never seen you or interacted with on on a thread and the posting history adds no additional information I'm pretty likely to ignore.

Yet, when I have PMed the women here, even as a shiny newbie, they have been very kind. So, I try to at least be nice.

:rose:

I am more apt to talk to a woman I have never interacted with, or "read" than a man.
