Artwork and Images - To Catch A Fancy

One of my relatives has a totally oversized oil painting that is similar - it's about 10 feet long and always creeped me out! The heads are just all.. too big for comfort

The accompanying literature scared me too. The sneezing and the pepper and all that jazz. Pigs.

In the original, red riding hood gets eaten by the wolf. The earliest version I remember seeing was 18th century, French. A metaphorical morality tale that all young girls would have instinctively understood at the time.

It's my favorite fairy tale. And the pic I posted? I can't look away. Look at her feet, knees and elbows.
Is the wolf protecting her? Going to eat her? Or both?
I've dressed and Red Riding Hood a few times for Halloween. Soon to be ex hubs always threw on a plaid shirt and went as the woodsman.

Love all the metaphor.
