Ask the Mouse your lingerie questions...

Does anyone know where to purchase socks like these? sockdreams has a wide array, but I don't see any quite the same.

Thanks. :)

Always wanted socks like that.
They look so warm.

The only question I have is more generally clothing related; why on Earth have I seen women wearing skirts in English winters?
Surely it can't be worth it.

I have a question. I have a corset but the bust area doesn't fit very well. I am a big girl but with C cup breasts. Is there something I can do to make it fit better or is there a type of corset I should look for? I do not want an underbust.

If your corset laces up the front and back, you can tighten the fitting to the top half. My favorite overbust has two cords in the back: each start at about the midway point and either lace downwards to the bottom, or upwards to the top, and stay fastened. (they are not closed taught like the front, but each have some room for adjustment) When I want to wear it, I have an additional cord that I can lace up the front to close it.
Depending on the intended waistline of the garment vs. your actual measurements, if you took the bi-cord in the back approach for your own, you may be able to tighten the top half more than the bottom for a better fit.

Check out Timeless Trends in Austin. CutieMouse sent me there a couple of years back and they were very helpful. Not only is there a section with several tabs regarding sizing, but they're happy to offer assistance in helping you find a good fit.

The salesperson I talked to urged me to buy a "long" style to better accommodate the 12 inch difference between my waist and hips. When it arrived and fit perfectly, I was glad I'd taken her advice. :)

Only back but I have heard this idea before and will have to try it. I think if I had someone to lace it for me, I might have better luck too lol

Off to check it out! Thank you!

Sorry for not seeing this earlier... It does usually boil down to how the laces are tightened. The eyelets of the laces should be perfectly parallel to each other when laced. If the laces are tightened in an "hourglass" shape, the pressure isn't evenly distributed and it can get uncomfortable/the corset won't sit right.

You can get a proper lacing, even without someone to help, but it takes experimentation and time.

Just bumping this thread because it's been so helpful. Also, I'm wearing the most comfortable bra I've ever worn and still in disbelief that it's the size it is. And I know that my view has been skewed on sizing but I still can't wrap my head around it even while wearing it and feeling the difference.

Listen to the Mouse, she knows her stuff. :rose:

Ha!

Size is nothing more than a tool/guideline for a fitter to utilize. X size = Y brands = Z results. Half the time I never even told my clients their size (because they'd get hung up on numbers and letters instead of focusing on how things looked/felt).

This was sent to me by someone (who shall remain nameless :p) on the board. Mostly because I want to hear CutieMouse's reaction. :D

Can you imagine the fit issues!

I can't quote it, because my immediate reaction was...

"My eyes! My eyes!"

[Random lingerie blurt]

Almost 3 months with a new company now, and even though it's a little overwhelming (I just more than tripled the accounts I'm responsible for), it's so much a better fit.

Sorries! i hope there's no permanent damage.

And Awesome Blossom!!!! I am not in the least surprised you've tripled their accounts. Don't let them work you too hard!

Oooh, I do so enjoy begging.

And, of course you do! :D

Any advice for the men of lit?

I'm just a regular guy, I dress casual mostly although I can wear ( American vernacular rock) a suit.
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with my under garments. So what should the gent around town be wearing under his clothes that is both hard wearing comfortable and cost effective?

Nope; no crime. :) I think someone actually started a Kickstarter something a while back for a product that hung bras instead of storing them in a drawer...

Great thread!

A former girlfriend ( and current friend) hangs both bras and panties in her lingerie closet and has them arranged by colour. It's amazing!

Oh not because of me! Company A had me working 10 accounts; company B has me working almost 40. lol

Hard wearing AND cost effective tends to be the challenge. I knew someone who swore by La Perla men's tshirts/underwear once, but it's the opposite of cost effective. I've never dealt with menswear before... I'll do a bit of research and see what I can come up with.
