The kicker is that marriage is for life and a divorced Catholics cannot remarry and remain in the church.
The exceptions are an annulment of the marriage or the death of the other person, then you can remarry.
Oddly enough, and I don't know if this is relevant, but my own personal experience has been that the Catholics can be pretty hypocritical with their annulments and inconsistent in the "rules", per se.
Is there really any dogma anywhere that truly describes a group of people without exception?
