I posed a cogent philosophical question a while back and no one stepped up.

Then things took an inevitable turn for the Jewish after Homburg had the audacity to claim that the axis powers were the most perverse. I had to set the record straight.

Word. Kinky jews gotta represent. Though you're only a 1/4.

and different enough that it can even become something totally unintelligible when you put a western contemporary post gay liberation lens over something that isn't informed that way.

“post gay liberation”, I honestly don’t believe we are anywhere near that, but I think I know what you mean. A belief that people are different in their sexuality, right?

I once came across a theory stating that all cultures that have stood the test of time do so only because they are conservative, hence members of such culture don’t stray far geographically, and stick to their values passing them on to a later generation.

There is also evidence that liberal cultures have existed often throughout time, only, possibly for the above reason, they don’t survive. For example 500 year old Caucasian mummies found ceremonially buried in a Chinese desert with marijuana for smoking from south India. A modern example, the hippi movement.

It is possible that BDSM has been expressed a lot in history, only it was not recorded by those with the means to do so.

Can you imagine the sheer perversity if it had been the whole matzo ball?

Whole Matzo ball right here. *points to self*

Aaaaaaaand thats it! I'm outta here. I realize that this thread was serious and such, so I'll stop pervading it with my stereotypes and whatever else I was saying about NY Jews.

Oh I don't think we've *acheieved* gay liberation, but our modern concept of gayness basically is as young as the seventies. That's kind of the relevant moment I'm talking about.

I think adaptability is really the marker of cultural continuity. You can argue that Rome fell, sure, but we've still got a lot of its laws and precedents and its language going strong in adapted forms. We're still heirs to its philosophies and advancements and, well, thank them for Romance, a concept that certainly didn't come out of Athens.

It's not the small values that I really think are the continuous ones, the ones that people tend to get nuttiest about when they're stressed, the obvious ones. But I just got back from seeing Persepolis, so I may be biased.

I don't know what recorded BDSM is and isn't if you take it out of the modern west. I mean there are murals of flagellants beating people from Pompeii but I don't think it meant then what it does now.I don't think a guy having his cheeks skewered in Bali is really just the same as someone doing it at Burning Man.

Hmph. I just caught up. I'm glad Homburg is afraid of me. :D

Face + palm = WTF!!!

Things started out so good, then people started jumping on the Jew bandwagon…   :(

*considers whether to brandish cane*

This is not suppose to be stereotypes nor, hey check it out, we are all different, lets all laugh about it. You all make like scientists and be cool about it, no passion allowed. Well ok it is, but not like you have been doing.

It ends here

Thank you those who replied with something serious to say, its been interesting reading your comments.

I think this thread may have caused some confusion, probably because honestly I wasn’t expecting much to come out of it, so I didn’t put much into it, but now that something has I’m a fighting. I will edit the first post, and try to make thing clearer. *Thumbs up*

Thank you

Hey, sparky, I realise that you have this whole bad-ass uber-dom thing going on, but see the board's tagline? Y'know, that lili "Free speech, no spam" thing? Yeah, the whole "It Ends Here" jazz in big red font is crass.

The way it works around here is that you post a thread, and then sit back and hope that people get it. When/if they don't, you work to guide it back on track. If you do, you might get really good discussion. If you stomp around and snort metaphorical fire, it just never helps.

Scroll past the Jew stuff, and you'll be fine. there's still good stuff in this thread, and you should be lauded for spawning it. But red text and orders? C'mon, last time I checked, I sure as hell don't wear any collar, let alone yours.

Listen, hmm… no I don’t mean to barge in and mark everything. If that was your impression I’m sorry and I hope we can start over, that was not my intension. What I did wasn’t because I thought I wasn’t getting much out of the thread, in fact originally I thought nothing would come out of it. But

Racist issues are one thing I don’t fuck with, ever. That’s it.

I hope you can understand that.

WOO-HOO! A Dom fight.

Are the rules the same as rooster fight?

Ha ha

Its cockfight, and me and Homburg actually already discussed that one. :D

Who was racist?

Com'on... 'fess up

I'm not going back through this thread to find you. I can't see for one thing...

Eh - someone who's even more susceptible than me on the 'ism' offensive comments. Who would have thought?

It seems to me that a great deal of the stereotypical BDSM/Fetish aesthetic is Germanic in origin, yes. Marquis magazine (no relation), DeMask clothing...

Splitting BDSM up into its categories, bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism and masochism, we can see that these are all basic elements of social animals. For example, wolfs exhibit the same behaviors, I could write epics on how precisely similar they are right down to that sub desire to please, but I will spare you.

These natural instincts make up parts of the foundation for every culture. How does culture deal with that, it has to address it somehow?

And does anyone know what BDSM is like in China. I have no idea, which is sad, since it is the oldest culture on the planet.

I have only read one article by a Chinese sub, and she was complaining that no corsets where ever small enough for her.

Think about rain. Rain as a phenomenon existed before it was 'invented' as a scientific concept. But it didn't have the meaning it has now for us until it was 'invented' as a scientific concept. Our current scientific concept and understanding of rain would have been completely unintelligible for a society that understood or conceptualized rain as an act of god for instance.

Einstein once commented on the church vs Galileo, the whole earth vs sun as center of the universe. Einstein said something like, “they where both wrong, I’m the center of the universe.”

It’s a point of reference joke, for example, your just sitting still, everything’s calm nothing much going on, but from a different point of reference you actually hurtling around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour. Same thing, different view, which is the right one, does it mater? Not in physics it doesn’t.

By the way, what class do you teach?
