BDSM without the acronyms

However it is AA invention so if he does not want it to be used anymore, I will stop using it.
Oh fuck that 'Cisco. ADR tried to get me to copyright it of all things months ago. Feel free to use it as you wish.

Once again, i got tired of seeing others corrected for leaving someone out in a reply to a discussion. i came up with something quick and dirty to avoid clumsiness in written thought. Since i'm getting old and crotchety now, i'll either just reply fuck you to a correction, or maybe ...

yeah, this is perfection in its duplicity

I think people simply got tired of the endless semantic arguments.

And to the original poster, I have seen your name a few times but you are not established enough to be dumping whiny threads on us. You have made a total of 12 posts here in the last six months so don't leave your turds on BDSM's doorstep. Go vent wherever you racked up most of your 13000 posts.

I'm with Netzach on this one.. I think that was kinda harsh and cliquish, which I would hope isn't a prevailing attitude. Telling people they haven't played in our sandbox enough to be given a permit to build a castle here is a little on the rude side.

I think pyl/PYL works well online.

I don't use any of these silly words in real life. I stick to good old fashioned "bitch" and "whore".

Which one is the PYL and which one is the pyl ? :D

I love it when you sweet talk us. :D

Hey, it's what I do.

No, I've posted on 12 threads. The search function doesn't count the number of posts you've made.

It might also interest you to know that if you counted threads that are six months or older I've posted in 251 while you've posted in 235. Aren't pissing contests fun? But, wait, there's more! Your first post on this forum appears to have been on 06-12-2003 while mine appears to have been 08-05-2001.

Yeah, that was back when the "BDSM Board" was just a huge thread on the GB that cymbidia, RisiaSkye, Wizard, Merelan, and WriterDom loved to post in. That was when if you wanted to talk about BDSM you had to deal with trolls coming in and telling you what a sick fuck you were. Luckily, Laurel was kind enough to give us an entire board so now pathetic toads with pinprick dicks can insure only "established" members will post.

In case you haven't figured it out, I consider myself part of this community and I don't take kindly to people telling me I shouldn't post here. Frankly, I don't care if you're SuperDom himself, that type of insular bullshit was never what this board was supposed to be about.

This reminds me of that scene in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" when they talk about sex, and John Cleese says, "What's wrong with a kiss boy?"

PCism sucks. I think it is the scurge of our society. Call a person what they are. If they are a bitch or whore, so be it. If they are a Dominant, great. If they are a submissive wench, say, "Hey there submissive wench!" I guess it all boils down to what a person is comfy with.

I do agree with Netzach as well on the whole acronym thing. Having built online communities for the last 10 years, they get awfully tiring. In fact whole posts can be something like this:

My DH got the AF but IWBBL.

Hm. I forgot the secret handshake...do I wiggle my fingers over my head now? It does make people feel excluded when they can't figure out what the heck someone is saying.

Are generic labels the best solution? Are they merely a convenience? I have to admit, I had to PM Catalina cause I had no idea what "PYL" meant -- I was like, is this something new? And I laughed. Holy non-description Batman. If I had my preference I'd like to be called, slave, bitch, cunt whore (among other fun phrases) but by my Master :) If we're going to assign labels to each other, they should be fun ones with gusto.

Seniority and quantity mean nothing without some substantitive quality...something you've never had.

The net result of this worthless debacle is that: (a) you get fed a cybersnack for your uninspired troll before scampering back to the General Board; (b) it blows a dog whistle that draws our less experienced or less sophisticated posters into debating silly semantics and ignoring any substantive topics; and (c) people in skin-to-skin relationships -- the folks I wish to communicate with! -- are discouraged by poor signal-to-noise ratio and drift further and further away from this forum.

So once again, your histrionic presence in this forum can only generate a negative result and your lukewarm "retort" towards me can't cloud that up.

I really am not into acronyms even if AA calls me Cisco.

[/minirant] I am not affiliated to CISCO which is known to produce very fast network components which are a nightmare to configure and which I have had to configure too many times to be called a sane normal person.[/minirant]

However I really like PYL/pyl, in the past I have had to excuse myself for using the wrong language or making post that were gender specific or writing Dominant with a capital D. It is sad how that kind of nonsense upset people.

So yes for me it serves a purpose, it is not perfect but it has been one of the very best solutions I have seen to avoid upset feelings about titles. For some weird reason titles are valued by many as a something very important in BDSM. So since AA does not mind us using it I will keep on using it.

Francisco.

I think that using PYL/pyl just adds to the feeling that this forum is exclusive to a select few.

Why?

When newbies come in and don't understand what is being said, it seems clannish, to borrow a word previously in the thread.

Acronyms serve purposes, whether it is S and M or USA or whatever, but only if the acronym has meaning to many, not just a few.

Yes, I agree with those who have pointed out that number of posts and time on the forum have nothing to do with your ability to express an opinion.

Well maybe we should put up a poll about using PYL/pyl and let the majority decide.

Francisco.
We can't get people to look at the frickin' stickies, much less do a simple search before starting a new thread.

I actually had thought of including a list of commonly used acronyms to be in the stickie at the top of the forum or have one of it's own, but as you say AA, will it be read anyway? And then we still get asked what switch, domme, etc are. Or perhaps a disclaimer on posts or the forum to cover offended parties if titles are not all inclusive in posts.

True but this is a forum for it's posters by it's posters, and as long as we stay within the boundaries set for us by Manu and Laurel it is ruled by its posters.

So let the majority decide and we can be done with the whole subject. Although I find it easy to use PYL/pyl it will also not break my heart not to use it again.

For shame kittycat. You've always been my paragon for optimism. Whom will i debate with over the class half-empty or half-full now?

Wait a sec, we forgot to throw an acrynomn in there somewhere ... WTF?

And that darlin', is why i enjoy this board. i like watching, occasionally participating, in the "lively" discussions. BTW, sneaking in an acronymn it's about time you started posting art/pics again. i don't mind doing it because i find wonderful things to share in the hours before dawn, but a different voice helps.
