I own land. What's the land worth? What I paid for it? What its tax basis is? It has timber... so is it the value of the land plus the timber? Is the timber valued at finished lumber rate? What about the costs to harvest the timber? The land sits on top of the Marcellus gas field. Does the value of the gas underground count? Can I appeal the valuations?

Since Ronald Reagan was inaugurated in 1981 America's rich have been paying lower taxes on bigger incomes. I do not think they have been working any harder than they did during the Eisenhower administration, which existed from 1953 to 1960, when they paid higher taxes on lower incomes, adjusted for inflation.

The rich need to pay more taxes because they consume more resources. It's as simple as that. Massive infrastructure from reliable highway systems, airports, and post offices to regulatory agencies such as FAA and the SEC, etc. costs money. Poor people don't use the services of these expensive banking, court, and security services like the FBI to protect their assests from criminals and the Coast Guard to protect their yachts from pirates.
Fuck that "fair" tax bullshit. It's like when you go to lunch with co-workers and one guy orders steak and lobster while you just order a small garden salad then he wants to split the cost of the bill evenly to be "fair".
