We have been told that it will be before Christmas so all holiday plans have been put on hold beacuse he will be a long time in a sling afterwards. I am shattered!! We were supposed to meet my sister off the train in London there were hold ups on the line and we waited nigh on 2 hours just as we got back to car having given up we got a call she had somehow missed us and had cross the road thinking we would be coming in that way and had waited for us 2 hours in the wrong place but only yards from where we were waiting! Her mobile wasn't working and she had to find a phone box then ran out of cash for it. Consequently we only had about an hour to get round a Country Living fair that normally takes all day! We did it too but not much money was spent! My poor feet and legs are crying out in complaint against such treatment first the 2 hours standing and then the belting round the show, I always knew excercise was bad for you after the horrendous stuff that was forced upon us at school.
I have just tried to eat my way through a huge danish pastry full of whole cherries that were being sold off cheaper because today is the last day ... I had to give up half way through it!

Hah! wonderful. Only for me that lasts 5 hours. Then I wake up eager to see what I missed out on.

When I sleep WITH someone it is a bit different. I can manage to stay asleep 6 or 7 hours.

I've recently had to let go of a dear, furry friend. Always has been easier for me to be around animals than humans - they exhibit the ability to be pure, to exist for good with no convoluted motives, just safety, security, warmth, a full belly, a place to be active and a clan/group/social circle. Animals hunt for food & they fight for space - it isn't often seen that they hunt to hurt or fight with the purpose of maiming.

Seeing things like this makes the loss of my bright, furry light that much more painful because she's not here for me to hug (& to reassure me of the goodness in this world more than me reassuring her of her safety). I have nightmares because of things I've read and stories I've heard. How could we, as a civilization, disregard our stewardship of this earth and allow abuse, neglect, and complete disregard for life in any form? damnit, this hurts

don't you dare apologize! people willing to keep watch are what I can believe in. Knowing that there are more people who find deranged sadists unacceptable and are willing to say as much... I'm thankful.
So much in life hurts - and knowing that there's no pussy-footing or tiptoeing is reassuring. Nobody should blow a whistle in a whisper - shout it out and make humanity proud.

Annie, is your volume on the computer sound card turned up?

I find mine by clicking on start, programs, accessories and there's the sound recorder and the volume control. I had both the mic switch on full and the record level turned up full. If you're not hearing it, I'd tend to blame it on the software in my puter and not the speakers themselves.

You are most welcome, Champie. By the way, you might care to get into your mixer settings (from control panel or by right-clicking your volume applet) and search for "mic boost," "mic pre-amp" or some such, likely under "advanced settings" behind the grayed-out button marked "Do NOT touch!"

Most sound systems support some sort of pre-amplification capability, but heaven knows where the manufacturer and your version of Gates' Folly chose to hide the toggle.

Anyway, if it's there it'll help.
