This is Melissa's second comment and third overall comment in the thread.

It's a social media site similar to Twitter/X, but with stricter conduct moderation and some features that make it more user friendly. A lot of people have migrated there from Twitter as it has gotten nastier, less user friendly and more overrun with ads.

That's been a known complaint by liberals since Elon Musk took over and allowed both liberals and conservatives (and everyone between) to speak their mind. Lovecraft's first post came after that post. Lovecraft doesn't need me to speak for him, neither does anyone else, but let's be honest with our comments here.

As far as real hate and nastiness, every group with an opinion is going to have their outliers no matter where you go.

My wife has been on Bluesky for over a year and loves it. (She's a fantastic YA/MG author that I wish I could brag about on here without outing myself.)
She'd steadily built up to around 1000 followers over the year
Then, this week, she's added about 200 followers per day after a couple of people included her in starter packs. She's just over 2700 followers now.
Awesome....
Well done that lady.....
Nice to see a positive comment....

Toxicity on Twitter (often echoed in and driven by mainstream media) was a growing problem since at least 2016. To see it, all you needed to be was vaguely supportive of trans rights or anti-Brexit.

If you can't see the nastiness on X these days, likely that's because you're not looking, or you're part of it.
