Competition vs support: writers' views on other writers

He was a good guy, helped a lot of us behind the scenes. Problem he had was his old curmudgeon/Archie Bunker persona-and it was completely contrived-offended the delicate lib faction here and he was branded a troll. His eyes were going near the end of his time here, and he got tired of getting time outs because aforementioned thin skinned divas kept reporting him, so he moved on.

Odds are he may have moved on completely at this point, he was up there and not in great health.

But after years of people giving him the "where's your writing?" he created the Noir pen name and his style, content and ability to "go there" on certain topics blew the posers here away.

He commented about getting a Green E under another pen name and no one believed him because he wouldn't link it on the forum. But he did send it to me, and at least one other that I know of. Great story, but told from the perspective of an elderly woman recounting her days as a slave. Today's woke crowd would have run screaming from it.

And in the end, that was the problem people had with him. Both in his posts and in his writing, he had the balls to express himself and not worry about what he should and shouldn't say or write. Now we have sensitivity readers and "inclusivity" features in word's editing. Pffffffttttt
Yes, he was good alright - I read some of his stuff and really enjoyed it. I'll have to track the one I enjoyed down and take another look. A cop story I think.

Said victim went on to not only make a killing in the pay market, but her babysitter series is now a series of adult films by a major producer.

Lit sure showed her.

Yes - I saw they were filming the first one. Loved it. She certainly wrote some classics. A real inspiration :)

Can you imagine how he could have rocked your Hammered challenge?

That would've been right up his line. I might dig an old one I was writing up modeled on something he wrote and dedicate it to him. It'd be a fitting tribute thats for sure

LOL. I found it on a USB "Lovecraft and my Grandpops - Trailer Trash Noir." Dates back to 2018 and I think we chatted about it back then.

Okay, going to resurrect it for the Hammered event. You know, this is totally serendipitous!

LOL laughing even harder. I have a black leather coat, sort of Burberry style thing, and it was that Noir story back then that inspired me to buy it - I wanted something dark and noir and I'd completely forgotten that was why I bought it.

Oh yeah, I am so resurrecting this for Hammered.....

Before we moved here I had no idea what a gun looked like except for in the movies. Now I know. It’s a lotta fun sitting on the deck back of Pop’s trailer down at the bottom of Joyland and shooting into the woods, blowing away squirrels and shooting chunks outa trees with one of Pops AR15’s or a handgun.

Sometimes we take shots at the freight wagons on the railway line as they roll by. You can see the sparks where the bullets hit the steel. We usually only do that when Pop’s been drinking though and I’ve never figured out where the bullets go after that. Somewhere into the good end of town, I guess, but nobody’s ever complained and it’s not like I give a shit. I don’t live up there. Not anymore.

I forgot about that one, I always remember you killing me in your other story. Glad to be a running topic of your amusement.
