i know there's play piercing.. and if you get into that with your lover.. their obiviouslly not a profesional but at least they should read up on it a great deal and make sure things are sterile and safe. if i ever get that far in an s/m relationship i will make sure both me and my partner are well read in that area.
piercings... strictly professional in my own opinion.. but for others.. i'm sure there's things you can do yourself but the vagina would NEVER be something anyone wants to risk screwing up i'm sure.

I've done a good bit of play piercing. Most of it wasn't in or near my vaginal area, although once it was. My partner was in medical school, though, so I felt very (although perhaps falsely) secure. I think the biggest risk with piercing (even temporarily) body parts in that area is that you'll cut through a nerve and lose feeling there. That would suck, totally.

But in my experience, play piercing was great. All the endorphins of a regular piercing, the weight of the steel, and nothing but a Band-Aid to embarrass myself with the next day.

my first and last piercing was when I was nine - my earlobes. I'm the product of the hippy 60s and my father put a half of a potato behind my ear, lots of ice to numb and stuck a needle with embroidery thread through, tied it, peroxide and whala. *smiles* no problems. I have a question regarding tattoos... I have a very conservative professional job, so you won't see me going all out. That being said, I'm interested in something on the top or bottom of my foot, or something very very very light around my ankle. Have you ever heard of the bottom of the foot?

Yeah, I stated late when I did the piercing thing. My first one was when I was 17 I think and I did something similar like you. They used cardboard and numbed my ear with an ice cube too. I think the ice was worse than the piercing process.LOL Oh well...live and learn. As for the tattooing thing on the top of your foot it is going to hurt quite a bit from what my friends who have been done there. Now on the bottom I don't know but hopefully you are not ticklish there.*grin*
