Business Travelers Unite

Same here, we had a nice long chat with our executives; for a guy like me who actually enjoy people interactions, I feel I need to explain, not necessarily sexual interactions, this covid-19 crap Is seriously hampering human connections.

There is so much you can see from the non verbal when talking to someone in person instead of Skype. And if you happen to be using zoom with cam, well what do you know, almost no one is wearing a dress shirt.

The tailors may also be covid-19 casualties!

Stay safe all,

V.

I totally agree with you. There is a lot to be said seeing people in person for developing a relationship but I guess the younger generation are more comfortable with most of their interactions being via social media rather than in person and businesses seem to cater to their preferences much more than when I first entered the work force. I think the virus has accelerated this trend. I did a work happy hour call via Zoom last week and it certainly was not nearly as fun as a face to face happy hour for me.

Back down in my digs at work. A lot of free time in the evenings, if any ladies fancy chatting.

I am wondering who has actually traveled over the past 2 months and if you did, did you hookup with anyone at your hotel? I cannot imagine much has been going on.

I just got my first request to travel in June. Debating on flying or driving. Excited to get back out there. Has anyone's travel started back up?

I think... we are at the point where we understand the prevention and risk mitigation that some travel will be starting back up. Flying is going to be tricky, but things like hotels and auto travel are pretty easily managed at this point. We can't reduce the risk to zero, but we can be smart... and that includes expanding your social circle a bit. Risk/reward, as always...

So who missing being on the road and if you do, what is it that you miss?

Do you just miss being able to get away from the spouse/family responsibilities?

Do you miss the possibilities of a hookup with somebody new?

Do you miss not getting to see new cities and new sites?

Do you miss just being able to lounge in a hotel room at night and eat out at different restaurants every night?

Do you miss alone time?

What really drives your love of business travel?

One could write a dissertation on these questions. I miss meeting strangers and learning about them and their business. I miss the alone time. The reflective periods I get when spending long moments with only my inner thoughts as company.

;)

Have you been able to come up with any ways to resolve the world's problems during your reflective periods? :)

Back to work digs this week. Three nights of trying to fill my evenings in a lonely room. No bar or gym open on base either :(

I have not traveled a lot in my jobs but I do miss those travel times being able to get away to some new city alone and seeing what trouble I can get into.

I’ve always been a traveler/wanderer and the other half isn’t so it’s nice to get away and do my own thing. We’re slowly but surely booking travel again and I’m definitely ready for a couple trips.

I can imagine you are getting the urge to get back out after being home for so long. Hopefully your trips fulfill whatever things you have the urge to do though not sure how many fellow travelers you will have yet.
