Can somebody learn? Yes
Can anybody learn? No

Some people have latent tendencies that need to be acknowledged and honed. Other people will never be able to wrap their head around it no matter what skill level they're able to acheive with tools and toys.

From a strictly social hierarchy standpoint everyone falls somewhere on the spectrum from the ultimate bottom to the ultimate Top --- whether or not the person has anything to do with BDSM at all. It's a herd/pack animal structure and has nothing to do with the specific actions of one's sex life. Vanillas come in Tops and bottoms too.

Everyone has different levels of need so that leaves a lot of room for what kinds of people make effective partners. Someone inclined to make obeisance every time she clicks the "submit" button on the web likely doesn't need the most dominant Top in the world to satisfy her craving.

All Tops are not created equal, right? I mean, put six Tops in a room together and likely you'll discover that some of them are Toppier than others. It doesn't diminish their status as Tops it's just human nature. Not EVERYONE can be the Alpha but who the Alpha is changes depending on who else is around.

I agree that deep love can be a motivator to overcome obstacles, but whether that transcribes into BDSM roles is open to debate. Obviously my "no" opinion was outvoted 12-5, but I respect the comments and explanations given in this thread.

Thanks for the replies and votes. :)

Interesting thread. I'll read for a while and stop being such a loudmouth.
