Chaos in the Kitchen - what to eat and drink

I've been getting really into tomigoyaki omellete over fried rice. Haven't been able to put anything in the omellete because I'm just starting out and can't get it consistant yet, but it's getting better. I have been experimenting on what to put in my fried rice. My favorite so far is making a shimp oil with the shells and and mixing that in with the frying oil just before I put the rice in. Chili garlic sauce is also always good.

Not you haha. @English_guy_bkk
The person I so ungraciously shoved you for. When he said

I was hoping that if I had the black pudding I could beat out a bearded man for love making but alas I was wrong. 🥲
😂🤣😂
Ahhhh, well, you got your just desserts. I'll brush the black pudding crumbs out of my beard 😜

If you like the shrimp oil flavor, try getting some little dried shrimp like this:

Dried Shrimp Dried Louisiana Shrimp USA Dried Shrimp Small 美国虾米 (4oz) https://a.co/d/j3io5mP

You can use it for all your stir fries. I use a little to flavor vegetables sometimes. Heat up your oil and just put a few dried shrimps in before your whatever youre stir frying.

The amazon price is ridiculous though. Look for it in your local asian market.

Chaos in the Kitchen - a compendium of recipes, cooking, food and drink

There is a lot of food and recipe talk sprinkled through Lit threads and so much knowledge about cooking and eating - a pleasure often commensurate to sex.
I have often struggled to find a recipe or food notes made in this or that thread a week or a month later - this is our attempt to remedy that particular problem.

This will be an indexed thread - like a cookbook - so recipes will be easy to find. Each will be made into a beautiful printable recipe card and posted here. Maybe in a year or so, we will have enough recipes to publish a Lit Chaos Cookbook using an online printing/ publishing service?

Sound fun? We hope so! Conversations and questions about food are welcome here too.
:)

If you have a recipe to share (or have come across one in the threads here), contact @Photog1rl or @cascadiabound with your recipe details or link us to where it has already been posted. Please plan to share a photo to go along with the recipe.

To start off the thread right - and because breakfast IS the most important meal of the day - we offer this French Toast Bake Casserole as an example of what we are planning. Happy cooking, baking, broiling, roasting, sauteing, stir-frying, boiling, mixing, and especially EATING and DRINKING!!

Mmmmmmm, sounds a lush recipe x

I made my mother's tuna salad but had to make changes. Her tuna salad included chopped eggs, apples, and sweet pickles with Miracle Whip. So I went with what I had: chopped eggs, apples, hamburger pickles, onions, and olive oil mayo. I was looking for comfort food.

OMG after a few weeks without posting privileges I can now update and fix up the thread!
New recipes will all be posted tonight. If you don't see one of yours let me know!
XOXO PG

So glad you have gotten your image posting grove back on (thanks to Laurel and the mods)
Recipes to this point have been linked in the index. We are working on getting the thread all back on track!

Something fast, easy and cheap... great for weeknights! In fact I just made this tonight for my wife...

Shredded Chicken with Tomato Chili Sauce (recipe from The Record)

(4 servings)

Two 8 oz cans low sodium tomato sauce

One 4 oz can chopped green chiles (or use 1-2 fresh jalapenos, seeded)

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/8 tsp each (dash) ground cloves and cayenne pepper

1/4 tsp salt

1 medium clove garlic, peeled and minced

4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves

1 tb lime juice

In large skillet, combine tomato sauce, chiles, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, cloves, cayenne, salt, and garlic. Bring to boil. Add chicken, reduce heat, and simmer, covered for 10 to 15 minutes or until done. (my variation: sautée garlic and jalapeño first, but not necessary)

Remove chicken from sauce and place on cutting board. Cut meat into shreds with a knife and put back in the sauce for a few minutes, mixing in lime juice. Serve over white rice, if desired. Side veg that work nicely with this are broccoli and string beans.

Looks like they are taking advantage of a gray day and enjoying their time in the kitchen. What do you think they are making? I’m guessing peach stuffed French toast or scones😍
