IMO corporal punishment of many stripes simply makes a person more deceitful and rebellious. That's not what I'm after in myself or anyone else.

Interestingly, I remember reading that Foucault, and many with him, think the opposite, that prison and other similar attempts at "behaviour modification" (see e.g. A Clockwork Orange) are more invasive. That it aims to change our personality rather than to control our behaviour. And I think that I agree.

Yeah, that whole prison system behavior modification thing is clearly working great. In fact, so great, that everyone should go and improve themselves and their lives!
