Crafty Litsters show your work!

Stella- I am blown away.
Isn't that something? Jackets and coats are her speciality.

But these had to be fitted to men we never met, from a list of measurements... And she's not a tailor... there were tears and yelling and thumbsucking. We went through two and a half cans of spray glue, which I swear lost us a few brain cells apiece. We are still finding bits of gluey-backed black plongè leather stuck to the most unexpected places.

Having them turn out so well fitted to raw measurements, with out ever having a fitting is truly something to be proud of. And something to be said for the person who measured them. I can't tell you how many muck ups I've experienced because of some one's improper measurements.

I find bits of thread everywhere. Every once and again I'll find a stray thread or two in my knickers.

Oh no. There were tons of muckups, of course there were! We gotstuff back for recutting and sewing...

I could go into a lot of detail, but Herself has asked me to keep it out of the public record (actually, it looks like I lost some half a paragraph when I hit enter)

Luckily there was a master designer who was the person who'de hired my sis in the first place. She get a list of generic sizes, and had them altered when they got to the offices. Made everything go much smoother!

But-- there are 28 buttons per coat. All hand sewn. On my to-do list is to invent a button applier thing somehow.

The band is the Trans Siberian Orchestra. it's not so much a band as it is a touring extravanaza.
The videos are starting to come into youtube... This one really shows the coats in action;

Depending on your taste, you might want to turn the sound way up-- or all the way off

Flinging the hair is a dance movement these days, we notice.:)

Thanks. I know TSO but I've only heard them, don't recall seeing them. Laughing at the hair move, but hey their hands are full.

I agree with Wench that they're even more impressive if you made them only from measurements. Still think they're so cool.

Love the coat, Stella!! Very artistic, and absolutely something I would wear!
Also love TSO, since the 00's. Such orchestration, and joy in their music! Awsome...
:D

Hey crafty folks! John Scalzi, author of Redshirts, has put up a Holiday Gift Guide on his blog and invited people to post about their stuff for sale. Today is all for arts, crafts music and more.

You'll be in a looooong list but Scalzi's blog is well read and...who knows? Worth a shot. I put up Warpworld on his "Non-Traditionally Published Book" section. If it gets one sale, it's worth the effort.

He's also a funny dude and worth a read.

Cool beans, keroin. I've stuck my sister's website on the list. :)

And Scalzi is... one of the great gifts of our time, or something.

No pics yet, but two nice things--
one is that I renewed contact with the guy who first put me to work in the props industry, and he's still making stuff. For the gummint, evidently-- but he is plenty willing to be my materials consultant and help me relearn the ways of mold making. So that's kinda really awesome!

The other is that I've been making wearable horns-- larger than most people's versions. In order to make them 1) handcrafted pair-of-a-kind and 2) light enough to wear all day, I've returned to old time tech, namely paper mache, which is so nice and tactile!
Anyway, the pair I'm making right now-- one of them is broken. So the wearer will have a rakish air of past actions... so cute :)

New pics of my TOP SEKRET PROJEKT ;)

It only took me two and a half years to get my hand-eye-coordination back up to snuff.

I believe I've mentioned how much I hate pink and blue in sex toys...

I have found that color-coding my layers of clay makes a huge difference as far as precision and stuff.

Very interesting. Remind me to tell you some time of the insight I had about your business one night when I couldn't sleep.

Okay, I finally can share this;

ignore the hair, and the guitar and the lazers-- see the tailcoat?

I assisted on that. I assisted on thirty of those coats, actually.

See those buttons? It was me sewed them on. :D

Hey Stella,
The coat is beautiful.
Is that TSO? Who is this guy?

The designer is a genius!

Yes, it's TSO, but I don't know who the guy is. He's one of the lead guitarists of this tour. I didn't see the show, I just helped make the jackets!

Just decided to share some more. These aren't finished. My system crashed a couple of years ago, and I don't have the necessary cash to get it going again, just yet. These are both from just before that crash. There are other songs on the page, too, if you feel like listening.

These are wonderful, I especially enjoyed the piano...very nice! Thank you for sharing, off to listen to the rest.

So for St. Paddy's day this year I've decided to dress as a sheep. (partly because the group of guys I end up around all wear kilts, and I thought this would be a cute novelty) Something corset based, of course.

There's just one issue.

I found this fleece-y type material first on the bolt in white, and then in a remnant of this brown. Both look just like sheep's wool. My first thought was to use the fleece-y stuff around the bust and in some sort of bottoms, and then I have white faux suede for the midriff. Then I found the brown and a matted wool type fabric.

With the brown there would only be enough to do the corset, but I'm still thinking it would be cute, and I haven't decided how to do the bottoms anyway.

So brown or white sheep? and what should I do about bottoms?

Ender's Game Tribute Art

I started on this a while ago, because I was really into Ender's Game and felt it needed some artsy-ness. It's still not finished, not even close; I will eventually add Ender as both a young child and a teen, when I can finally draw males (seriously, why are they harder?). But, thought I'd at least share this part.

I used Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. And lots of tutorials.

Not completely hand made but I love to find sad old hats, feathers, and adornments and give them new life. Here's what I whipped up last minute for an event.
The hat needed a bit of steaming and I added the feathers and a taxidermy black bird.

A brighter closer pic. The tall feathers are too big (about 2 feet tall) to get in most of the pics that night

I got in trouble at work so I'm off this weekend. I'm having craft night with cocktails so hopefully I'll have more to share, unless we get carried away with the cocktail part.
