Crafty Litsters show your work!

So you have a choice of the pink of the main colour for the sleeves? If that's the case I prefer the lighter one that looks like a damask for the sleeves. My guess is you're thinking the pink so the peek a boo bit of pink in the skirt ties in more, but I like the idea of just the peek a boo pink and I prefer the damask fabric. It looks more suited to the costume to me.

If you want to have a bit more of the pink to co-ordinate, I might suggest the addition around the waist could have a few pieces of the pink fabric...if it's not already done...but personally I prefer the pink in the skirt alone.

It's fabulous though.

Actually you seem to have the same view that I have. I was right in the middle about both fabrics but I thought that carrying the cream throughout would allow me to switch up the underskirt if I wanted to.

But I could also see how the pink sleeves would tie it all together.

Have you looked into it? Good semptresses (hmmm, sounds like temptresses) --- especially those who excel in period costumes --- would seem to be pretty coveted assets.

Ooooh! What if you could sew for the Royal Shakespeare Company!!!!

Not as hard as I could. The few times I did look into some of those possitions the ad stated "formal training required, not self-taught" and my heart sunk a little so I didn't follow through.

There is a dinner theater not too far from here that is looking for a costume mistress, but you have to aply in person and I haven't been able to get up there and i don't have a proper portfolio anyway. Something to work on while I'm on vaca though.

oh I didn't even think about changing the underskirt. That's a fabulous idea! ok definitely think the sleeves should be the same colour as the skirt then.

So I still have to put the grommets on the sleeves but for the most part this is done.

I ended up going with the pink sleeves, but they are hand sewn so I can change them easily if I decide to later. I might even do the buttons on another set of sleeves.

there's also a few things that I need to touch up with some fabric glue, but over all I'm very happy with this. :)

thank you.

So gorgeous wenchie! What size is it?

It's a simplicity pattern size 20(ish) which is some where between 16 and 18 compaired to what I normally buy. But I adjust a few things to fit my body. I'm top heavy so I build a bit more room there and snug it a bit at the waiste.

Okay, I need some advice.

I'm finishing up some simple suade cloth bodices and I'm at the boning stage when I run out of sprung steel boning!

I'm not going to be able to order more until next payday (monday) but I do have some plastic boning left over from when that was my main form of boning.

I switched over to the sprung steel because I like the feel of it, even in vests and bodices that aren't ment to be tight laced. But I do have a ton of the plastic just floating around.

I'm tempted to use the plastic just because I'd like to finish these projects, but at the same time the thought of it repulses me and gives me a "sell out" feeling.

So do I fight the feeling and use it up, or wait until I can buy the good stuff and put the plastic in the "yard sale/ebay" bin?

If it gives you the 'sell out' feeling, maybe waiting until you get what you want would be best. You've improved your skill tremendously since you used the plastic, correct? So keep your quality standards high.

You know? That's exactly what I would like to say to some of the submissives that seem to pass me by. I don't understand some women. I guess they gotta decide if they're going to sell out and go with the muscular hunk with no style or take a risk and go with the old slob with kinky class and style. Trouble is, you don't notice the class and style unless you give the old slob a chance.

Just like the muscular hunks with no style, there's a lot of plastic. Maybe there's a reason there's so much plastic. It isn't as good, so you feel like you're selling out on the quality. I'd also go with what would be best. just like I wish some submissives would do.

If they want the 'hunk with no style' then they're probably plastic too.

Wait and use the sprung steel boning. Sell the plastic on ebay. I understand your wanting to finish a number of suede outfits, but are you going to sell them in the next week that it will hurt you to wait?

I'm just new into corsetry but everything I read recommends stell over plastic and that's what all the places I've investigated and bought from use.

You do beautiful work. You spend your scarce time on making them. You're trying to build a reputation for great work. You should get more money for your items if you use steel over plastic (and that will help you with your October trip).

Go with your gut feeling...steel.

Thanks guys.

I think I had made my mind up not to use the plastic before I even posted but I just hate to feel like I'm wasting anything. But I guess I'm not really wasting it if I sell it.

And yes, my skill has grown greatly since the days I used plastic boning. I was more worried about not having the costumes done to take pictures while I'm on vacation, but I can order the boning on saturday since it won't hit my bank until monday (payday) and that way I'll get it by friday and should have at least all day saturday to bone everything. And I'll just get everything to that point in the mean time. After the boning, there really is only a few minutes of work left on a bodice.

I'll post pictures after I "go on location".:D
