Crafty Litsters show your work!

Yeah! I love pics of your costumes.

Thanks.

I'm really excited to take this batch of photos. A friend of mine said that he'd show me some spots in the city that have some arcitecture that will be amazing with my costumes. I mentioned one park and he said he knew other places. And the best part about that is he doesn't mind playing pack mule either. *giggles*

I'm so spoiled. :cathappy:

Thanks. :)

it was so much fun to take pics in that area. We'll have to go earlier some time because there was another spot I wanted to take the pics in, but the lighting just wasn't working.

Wenchie, if I had any money I would definitely want to commission you to make me a corset. Unfortunately, with budget cuts I'm going to be losing a good amount of my salary.

you are really talented hon! :rose:

You're an awesome seamstress, wenchie. Work to be proud of for sure!

Thanks girls. :)

I'm really hoping at this point just to find some steady income with this. It's what I really want to be doing, and going into the Mcjob every day is just getting harder and harder to talk myself into.

Question is, where exactly would there be a demand for that kind of talent..? ^_^;

Online costume shop :D

esty.com is a really good place to start. In fact, alot of online craftspeople have left their individual personal domains and placed themeselves on etsy.

Yup, Etsy. The site has a great network of guerrilla marketing/support groups for similar artists/craftspeople, and the energy there (when I dealt vintage) was much much much (OMG MUCH) better than the giant soul sucking spawn on Satan [eBay].

I love etsy! /swoon

Nothing productive to see here, move along!

So I bought one of these the other day, and finally sat down and properly tried it out. Here is my first attempt at digital art!

There would have been a face shot, but seriously, have you ever tried to get a cat to pose?

.... have you ever tried to get a cat to pose?
Only for a camera, with which I've generally had good luck. Seems they're quite hammy. Maybe that cat doesn't trust you yet to adequately portray her intelligence and personality, so she's only letting you do body shots now.

Oh yes, she's very queenly and bright. She sure looked dignified falling off the cat tree this morning.

*jaw drops*

Holy crap, that's REALLY good.

Etoile I LOVE your new av!

I have coveted hair combs like those for years. I have 3 different kimono paterns waiting for the right silks.

You have me all kinds of green!

My newest corst, made from trim I bought while I was in Dublin. :)

Whoa-boobs!

THAT is sooo precious! AWW! *melt* I love that picture. Super cute!

Sajack fell off the TV yesterday when she was sleeping and rolled just a little too far backwards. We immediately jumped up off the couch to console and comfort her like she was our kid or something. XD

Thanks! The makeup and dressing took about 90 minutes, and the picture time and wearing it only took about 20 minutes, LOL. It was so worth it though! I have more pictures and I will be posting them!

Is that a wig or did they do your own hair like that?

A little of both. There's a headpiece with fake hair that gives the shape, and my hair was wrapped around that and sprayed black to blend it. So the back of my head is mostly fake, but the pictures from the front are showing my own hair. If you have short hair and they can't wrap it around, it's just all fake. But what you see in the av is mostly my own hair. :)

Wow, how did they make it look so black? I thought you had kind of goldenish dark brown hair?

You've described my natural haircolor very well! They used "black hairspray" which was more like "black spray paint, but it's safe for your hair" - I had a hard time getting it out!

I was just reading through the Japanese section of their website (thank you, google translate) and I saw that what I wore is called a "half wig" - they have full wigs for short-haired people. The place I went is http://kyoto-maiko.com - they do have an English section!
