Do we have any ISTJ's here?

ENTJ <--- guess I am the first

I am male dominant (if anyone is keeping a tally). My last three submissive girlfriends were ISFJ, ISTP and ISFP. I am very familiar with MBTI and can sometimes identify someone's type just by observing them for a couple minutes. You shouldn't turn MBTI into a parlor game, but if you pay attention to the clues you should be able to get a general idea.

MissTaken said:
Does anyone think that there might be a common denominator with any of these personality profiles for submissives? Dominants?

Lots of things have been correlated with MBTI so why not BDSM? I know the "type" of submissive I am looking for, but some dominants would prefer a different type. MissTaken and anyone else, please take a look at this website:

http://personalitypage.com/ENTJ_rel.html

"The ENTJ's natural partner is the INTP or the ISTP."

If you look at the INTP and ISTP pages, their partners are ENTJ or ESTJ.

MissTaken also mentioned that some dominants asked for her MBTI type early in their courtship. I don't limit myself to certain types but I tend to notice patterns about which of my relationships are most successful or fulfilling. If the dominant is in tune with their personality type, knowing a potential submissive's type can predict the eventual interaction to a certain degree.

There is a whole lot more but that's enough for right now....

You are an ESFJ!
As an ESFJ, you are Extraverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging.
This makes your primary focus on Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing...This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Provider or Caregiver...ESFJs are warm-hearted individuals who highly value their close personal relationships. They are very service-oriented, and their own happiness is closely tied into the happiness and comfort of those around them. They are valued for their genuine warm and caring natures, and their special ability to bring out the best in others

Yeah, that would pretty much be me.

RN. Submissive. yadda yadda.

I've done the Myers-Briggs long form. This was an interesting little short version.

:D

Wow.......this is really me

Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging

INFJs are warm and affirming people who are usually also deep and complex. They're likely to seek out and promote relationships that are intense and meaningful. They tend to be perfectionists, and are always striving for the Ultimate Relationship.

This is uncanny. As I read the rest of this article, I kept reading things about me over and over and over. I have to admit I was a bit freaked out.

Now I know why I feel that I am always searching for something.

cool little test! I am an ISFP.

As an ISFP, you are Intraverted, Sensing, Feeling , Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Feeling with Extraverted Sensing.

I am an ISTJ. Do I win anything?

The original source of this personality analysis can be found in the book Please Understand Me by David Keirsey and Marylin Bates. Usually the test has 40 - 60 questions to help you determine where on the spectrum you would fall.

If some more people would add responses, I volunteer to do a quick tally of all the different types. :)

I've taken the Myers-Briggs a number of times, though not recently. The thing about these tests that might cause me *not* to take it again is that I found it either inaccurate (for me) or else, I felt like the first-year med. school student whose chosen field is psychology; getting ahold of the DSM-IV; and saying 'That's me. I'm *SO* like that! I must have (insert the mental illness of your choice).' Has anyone else here seen this happen? Still, I won't knock anyone else for taking the test. :)

As many times as I take the Myers-Briggs, I never know what to do with the result.

Just my free babbling. (Heck, even 2 cents isn't worth what it used to be.)

As an INTP, you are Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Thinking with an Extraverted Intution.

This is defined as a NT personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Rational (Knowledge Seeking) type, and more specifically the Architect or Thinker.

(which is interesting, because Data Architect is one of the roles I do at work.)

ENFP for me.

And bloody accurate it is too. I bet the full on test administered by a proper psychologist could tell me my prefered brand of shoe polish!

O. K., I couldn't

take the Bloganality Test because some questions had only one possible response. Therefore, I took the Jung Typology Test here:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm and it said:

Your Type is

ISTP type description by J. Butt and M.M. Heiss

Qualitative analysis of your type formula
_You are:

slightly expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed perceiving personality

Immediately before I took that test, I took the HUMANMETRICS Jung Typology Test/Temperament Test here:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

It said my Temperament Type is S/J (Sensor/Judger).

This site:

http://www.dougdean.com/learningstyles/SJ.htm

says this about Sensor/Judgers:

_ Overview

The SJ letters stand for Sensing and Judging. Psychologist David Keirsey called this the Epimethean temperament because in Greek mythology Epimetheus was characterized as both loyal and dutiful, and these are two of the distinguishing traits of the SJ. The four Myers-Briggs types associated with the SJ temperament are ISTJ, ISFJ, ESTJ, and ESFJ. They all are said to behave like the SJ temperament.

SJs are born with a predisposition to seek belonging through service. This makes them responsible, dependable, loyal, and generally obedient. With a firm grasp of reality, SJs are down-to-earth and concerned with the security of the future. They support time-honored institutions, such as marriage, school, family, church, and civic organizations, with care and respect for tradition.

Organization of concrete facts and activities is the SJ's forte. With their commonsense style, these individuals closely monitor the details of most routine tasks. The SJ also strongly values having everyone contribute to the common good through adherence to rules, rituals, and established norms.

Learning

Given their inclination to provide service to many different individuals and organizations, SJs also tend to experience feelings of being overlooked and unappreciated. The source of this discomfort is frequently compounded by the fact that SJs often provide unsolicited assistance. Membership in families and organizations is important to the SJ; any threat to security may therefore produce anxiety and worry in the SJ caretaker who is committed to preserving the institution.
_

Given SJs desire to belong and to provide service to traditional institutions, they flourish in classroom settings that are friendly and foster cooperation, consistency, and hard work. Equipped as they are with intrinsic dependability and responsibility, SJs have practical and effective study habits. In the classroom they are usually obedient and willingly conform to a teacher's authority. Because they constantly seek the right way of doing things, SJs feel most secure in those situations in which the teacher sets clear expectations and provides specific instructions for accomplishing requisite tasks. SJs favor such classroom standards as repetition and drills, memorization, workbook exercises, and step-by-step presentations.

Teaching materials must be of a realistic and practical nature for the SJ to see them as worthwhile. Unstructured or abstract lessons that do not include clear directions or concrete facts may frustrate SJs and sidetrack them so that they focus on their grievances rather than on learning.

This site:

http://beat.doebe.li/bibliothek/w01374.html

says SJ's are 'Sensor/Judger/Guardian/Citizens'. Judgers are then sub-typed as either:

ESFJ, ESTJ, ISFJ, or ISTJ.

Searching Google, I found at Bloginality:

http://bloginality.love-productions.com/istp.php

this:

You are an ISTP!

As an ISTP, you are Intraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving. This makes your primary focus on Introverted Thinking with Extraverted Sensing

This is defined as a SP personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Artisans (Sensation Seeking) type, and more specifically the Crafters or Mechanics.

Because of your desire for action and independance, you will change the format of blogging or design frequently to keep it interesting and different. Your loyalty may have you reading the same blogs over a long period of time. Even though you could be easily bored with blogging, you might find that because you like following a project through, this is a good way for you to use your alone time to sort the facts you pick up through the day.

http://bloginality.love-productions.com/esfj.php

this:

You are an ESFJ!

As an ESFJ, you are Extraverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging.
This makes your primary focus on Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Sensing.

This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Provider or Caregiver.

As a weblogger, your spirit of making others feel good will make people reciprocate and you will feel loved. Because you have a detail oriented spirit, you will be more likely to post frequently. You appreciate validation - espcially when someone agrees with you on something you say. Because of your sensativity, you must be careful not to be hurt when other webloggers are having contraversies - you want everyone to be happy.

You are an ESTJ!

As an ESTJ, your personality is Extrovert, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging.
As an ESTJ, you are Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging.
This makes your primary focus on Extraverted Thinking with Introverted Sensing.

This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Supervisors

As a weblogger, you may fufill responsiblities as a leader in group weblogs. If you are really interested in blogging, you'll follow it through and post regularly. Because you appreciate social order, you may be likely to take on a responsibility just to keep a project going.

You are an ISFJ!

As an ISFJ, you are Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. This makes your primary focus on Introverted Sensing with Extraverted Feeling.

This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Protectors or Nurturer.

In blogging, your journal will always be immaculate and have a touch of style. You may also feel overwhelmed because you want to be a part of everything going on. Because of your wonderful memory, other bloggers may come to you to ask about things you posted months before.

You are an ISTJ!

As an ISTJ, you are Intraverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. This makes your primary focus on Introverted Sensing with Extraverted Thinking.

This is defined as a SJ personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Guardian (Security Seeking) type, and more specifically the Inspectors or Duty Fufiller.

As a weblogger, you may will have a dependable form of posting. You may be more likely to be judgementatal toward others who aren't as dependable. You may get taken advantage of in group situations because you are known as not being able to say no. Because of your respect for facts and information, you may need multiple blogs to keep all of the information sorted in your head.

After reviewing all the above at http://personalitypage.com, and while not 100% 'me,' the personality type that comes closest in my case would have to be ISFJ. I haven't yet re-read this thread from the beginning yet, but just out of curiosity, are there any ESTP's or ESFP's on this thread? They are mentioned as 'natural partners' of ISFJ's.

Thank you.

This is defined as a NF personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Idealist (Identity Seeking) type, and more specifically the Champions or Inspirer.

As a weblogger, you may not be consistant in posts. Although, if you find a specific focus on their journal or a very flexible manner of writing, it may be more fufilling. Because you are warm and see so many posibilities in life, you may inspire others to follow in your footsteps with a journal.

Some um does that mean I get to date a Tall intelligent man. Prolly not. Oh well:)

Apparently, I'm in a minority of one on this thread...typical introvert.

You appreciate order and systems, and so you may stay with the same weblog program for a long time to keep things constant. Your personality type is rare, and so you are very special!

Greetings to all members

I am a relative newbie to the BDSM lifestyle. I have had some real time experiences at a physical level only with both bondage and domination. These were done before I understood that what I was doing was BDSM.

Since discovering BDSM, I have spent time trying to learn about the lifestyle in general and what roles, activities may suit me best. I have done alot of reading, both from websites and books like " SM 101" and "Different Loving". But there is only soo much that you can learn from reading a book.

So now I am looking for people intereted in or participating in the lifestyle to chat with to continue my exploration. That is how I found this site. While chatting with a new friend she highly recommended that I visit this site. She raved about both the wealth of information/opinions about lifestyle issues and how friendly the members were to newbie's serious about the lifestyle.

I do have a major interest in female bondage. A female sub, dressed in fetish attire and tighlty bound, is very erotic for me.
Eventaully I see myself as a dom in the lifestyle. But until I learn both what that means for me, what activites I like and am willing to do and the overall responsibilities of being a dom, I will not call myself a dom.

I look forward to discussing issues about the lifestyle with the members here.

Impish: I dated a very strong minded ENTJ woman who was sexually submissive. Inside the bedroom it was mindblowing, outside the bedroom it was a complete trainwreck. Out of curiosity, and since you are familiar with MBTI, what sort of men have you dated?

ok.. well, it had been so long since I took the test that I couldn't remember what it was about... So I took the test again, trying to get to the part that describes what the results mean anyway, and I got a different answer.. .this time I was an intp. Could one of you that has a clue about this stuff explain it to me??? Please????
