Dungeon Fantasy (Group Game Recruitment Thread) - Come on in!

I could see that, and that is what brings out her childish side, because she is constantly pouting at him. At the same time, she admires his abilities and strength, so maybe kind of a love/hate thing?

I could see her looking up to Aim as kind of a big brother figure, though. Maybe?

Negikao sounds like she's going to be cute. He may just make it a habit to tease her.

No: What is your name again? Naked Cow or something?

No (to Aim): *grinning secretly at him in a nye-nye sort of way (due to bolded statement)*

I can see No and Aim being the best of business partners lol. No will do anything if it means to make a big buck. He's stingy when it comes to spending money on anyone else besides himself.

Also, you're speaking too soon. A boy scout can still appear to take charge of our ruffian characters lol.

We still need a Knight, Mage, and Healer-Type.

@podman6827: Welcome. :D Can't wait to see it.

Negi balls up her fist and is ready to charge, her signature pout coming in to play as she stomps toward him, her dainty little elfen feet barely making a sound as she tries to be all big and bad.

No: Oh-ho! Look at this? *leans over and points at his chin* Right here, sister. Give me your best shot. :p

Aim sighs, and hands Negi a blunderbuss. "Now, remember to always check that the sparker is lit and the barrel is clear before you fire," he lectures. "And most of all, never point your musket at something you're not willing to destroy."

He pauses. The brim of his low-slung hat swings towards No and his leering chin for a second, then back to the practically-spitting Negi.

"So you're pretty much good to go, I guess," he mumbles, and slinks off quickly.

All I got to say is that we already have a hunter. Negikao is a ranger. I know she didn't put it as her skill, but it's her sub-class occupation. So I would pick a different skill.

Maybe fishing?

That is kind of why leatherworking is one of my skills. Comes with the territory.

Fishing works, changed it to that.

All right; here's a sudden update.

I reserved a spot for an interested player who is willing to be either a mage or a healer, depending on who picks what in the next 12 hr.

So if the next player chooses to be a mage, then he'll be a healer. If the next player chooses to be a healer, then he'll choose a mage.

Unfortunately, it's going to seem like a cockfest. But that's to always be expected with RP lol. Negikao is going to be alone. But at least she gets her own room and bath.

Oi, loves! Mind if I join in?

Character Name: Vynniran, Vynn for friends.
Alias: None, she keeps a low profile. Still, there are rumours within certain unsavoury circles of an "Abomination"
Age: N/A
Race: Human. Sorta.
Gender: Female. Close enough, at least.
Height: 1,68m (I don't know how to murica)
Weight: about 60kg (my sincerest apologies)
Hair: Vynn's hair is a flowing cascade of raven hair, but she usually keeps it all tied up. It has this annoying tendency to float and sway slightly, as if it were underwater, and that usually draws unwanted attention, so she ties small metal spheres to locks of hair to weight it down and keep it in place. There's also this one thick braid that flows from the back of her neck. Some would swear they saw it twitch and wiggle. Which is not true. Obviously.
Eyes: A deep dark purple, that almost seems to shift between hues and move like a whirlpool, like staring at the deep dark waters of a cursed swamp. It's not actually shifting, of course. Just the lighting. Of course.
Visual Description: n/a
Written Description: Vynn appears to be a light chocolate-skinned woman in her late twenties. She has a pretty oval face with elegant lines, framed by her beautiful wavy locks of raven hair. Despite her cute face, her features are cold, her gaze detachedly appraising, and a constant hint of arrogant amusal darkens her eyes and tugs at the corners of her thin lips. Her body is light and lean, but somewhat volumptious. Her hands elegant and smooth, with long fingers and sharp violet nails. She wears a loose black tunic and long skirt of very light linen, thin and soft, with a pattern of spirals and waves sewn into it with violet thread, and decorated with dozens of tiny balls of shiny brass. When she's on the road, she also wears a thick, dark purple cloak which she wraps around her and covers all of her body, obscuring even her face, except for her eyes, which seem to shine from the shadows that cover her face.
What most people who have met her don't know is that she can sprout multiple tentacles from various parts of her body and push just slightly past the laws of physics occasionally.
Level: 1
Class: Healer. You won't like the healing, though. It's effective, but you won't like it.
Abilities:
1. The Touch of The Other - Vynn can call upon the terrible eldritch power of the thing that uses her body as a gate to our world, using it to heal allies' wounds. Strange tentacles and gooey tendrils snake through the ground from beneath her dress, reaching for the wounded ally and climbing their body until they reach the wound(s). Then, the strange goo heals regenerates their body, all the while sending shivers down their spine from the icky tendrils and goo snaking up their body. The process takes but a second, and is effective, but not exactly pleasant.
2. The Gateway - Should an ally fall, Vynn can partially open the Gateway. A giant tentacle erupts violently from within her torso and swallows up her fallen comrade, pulling it back into her body and returning it moments later, alive and covered in goo. They are momentarily terrified into a state of shock that lasts but a second as the complexity of what they saw becomes too much for their mind to bear and is erased from their memory - but they're alive.
Skills:
1. Persuasion
2. Basic Medical Skills
Weapon: Poison darts
Personality: Vynn is completely self centered. She is The Other's Emissary, after all. Not that the pathetic creatures around her could understand why that makes her better than them, though. Still, they seem to have a part to play in her Master's inconceivable plan, so she keeps everyone she can alive. This of course excludes those fools who would attack her and disgrace her Master. She always assumes she is the smartest person in the room - wich would be amusing to anyone who found out that her Master had picked her for not being especially bright, on top of giving into desire all too easily, and therefore being easy to control. Still, she might not be terribly intelligent, but she's at least not stupid. And she does have a way of getting into your head - whether that's her own charm or The Other messing with your mind, the world may never know.
Quirks: Arrogant, cryptic, cold and sadistic, speaks multiple languages, one of which doesn't exist in our world.
Likes: Getting her way, luxurious comfort, sex, so long as she's in charge, wealth 'befitting of her superiority', psychologically torturing people and watching them cry. Then drinking their tears.
Dislikes: Not getting her way, substandard quality and quantity of creature comforts, someone resisting her charms, someone being smarter than her, petty theft or sub-optimal monetary compensation for her efforts, failure

I can tell that you were inspired by some Lovecraft, but overall, my largest issue with her is her personality. I don't think the character would work in a party. She seems more like a villain or a boss they would fight rather than an ally. So I have to say "no" to this concept idea.

Abilities:
1. The Touch of The Other - Vynn can call upon the terrible eldritch power of the thing that uses her body as a gate to our world, passing its touch to others. Any wounds sustained by her allies are grotesquely, but effectively, cured as slimy tentacles and goo pour from the wound, and scales cover the skin around it. This can also be used as a weak attack, should her or one of her Touched allies come close enough to an enemy, goo will erupt from their orifices as tentacles and scales disfigure them horribly. It's more of an assault on their mental fortitude than their body
2. The Gateway - Should an ally fall, Vynn can partially open the Gateway. A giant tentacle erupts violently from within her torso and swallos up her fallen comrade, returning it moments later, covered in goo and (temporary) scales, and momentarily terrified into a state of shock that lasts but a second as the complexity of what they saw becomes too much for their mind to bear and is erased from their memory - but alive.

And the quality of life for our meat shields continues to improve with the loving care of such an ideal healer. <3

I mandate that all eldritch appendages spawned from beyond the Gates of Doom be named Bob.

Also, she won't be that bad - she's dumb, and Aim is a professional con man. Duping her can be his job!

Well, perhaps I didn't really make it clear, but the thing is, she's not actually that brilliant mastermind she thinks she is. Think of her like that one asshole friend who thinks they're hot shit, but aren't. I imagine her starting to give everyone orders and thry just look at her blankly and go do whatever they want and she's like "Damn it! You fools!" and just goes begrudgingly help them out
If you still think she won't work, I can just change her personality

Edit: yeah, now that I look at it again, I didn't really make it clear that she just thinks she's hot shit while not actually being able to do much herself. She would just resign to following the group around while complaining and trying to get a better cut (and mostly failing)

I don't approve of her methods for healing others. It is original, but the one issue I have with it is that you write the tentacles will protrude from the bodies of other characters when they are healing that character. In your second ability, that action is written as an attack against foes.

I cannot have you have her capable of just opening gateways in others. It is god-moding. I did write that I allow basically any race, but when I make that a freeform option, the last thing I expect people to pick is a god or god-like character. Now I have to go and add that as a limit.

You want your team to go to you for help not avoid you at all costs. It is counter-productive for a healer.

Negi would definitely appreciate the addition of another female, albeit a scary one. She is the only one in the group who is slightly frightened by Vyn and although she tries to still be her brazen self, she often sneaks behind her, marveling at her confidence.

Well, the way I described those powers sounds kinda OP, but really, ability number 1 is just healing and ability number 2 is resurecting. That's all they do, it just so happens that it looks weird and is unpleasant to feel on your skin. The tentacles that show up on the wounds are tiny and do nothing more than wiggle around and be disgusting, and all the weird apendages go away after a while.
I just think it would be funny to have a healer that makes everyone wish they hadn't gotten injured in the first place. There's an anime called Bungou Stray Dogs where the medic in the characters' group has an ability that heals all wounds instantly, but only if the patient is fatally wounded, so she had to basically mutilate them in order to heal them, and that was fucking hilarious
But if you still don't like it, I can just make her a mage instead and change her abilities.

I think I just got way too excited describing the eldritch powers, so they looked really OP, but it's really just a basic heal and a resurrect that leaves you catatonic for just a second and then you forget the terrifying sight of the Other and go about your business. I will remove the attack feature in the first ability, tho, cause it's kinda stupid. I just didn't want her to have no attack abilities, but it doesn't really work

You can have those abilities, but I don't want the tentacles to come out of the bodies or wounds of other characters. It's okay if they come out of your character, and those tentacles patch them up that way, but I do not want them coming out of other characters because that is what is making the abilities god-moddish. So if you can change that around that would be acceptable. She is the gate. No one else is. Therefore, they should only come out of her.

Also, she can always do conventional combat. She has poison darts for crying out loud. Plus, what party doesn't protect the healer? Despite her being the most highly targeted member on a team, the enemy will have one hell of a time trying to get to her.

alright, if the problem is the tentacles coming from people other than her, than I think the edit I just made to the CS should be to your satisfaction :)

As for her relationship with other characters, she has a superiority complex, so she would mostly act like she's in charge and get ignored by everyone. Or get told to shut up, depending.
I imagine she would be constantly bickering with Aim since he's a witty little bugger lol. And if he's gonna be the Team Dad (great title, btw), then she'll probably also be annoyed when people listen to him and not her.
She would pick up on Negi's attitude towards her and be all smug about it. Not that she'd rub it in her or anyone else's face, but she would be pretty satisfied with it, which means she would take a liking to the cute little ranger.
She would probably respect No's appreciation for gold and sex, given her own love of luxury, but whereas No sounds like he'll get hyped for any amount of gold, she is only content with an abundance of it, which I imagine would lead to some bickering
And She would probably constantly tease Sir Steve about the whole "protector of the innocent" thing, since in her eyes, they're all pathetic creatures that she only bothers keeping alive for her Master's plan. She'd be quite amused at his morals.

All right; your profile is good. I will be starting the IC when I get home from work this evening. We are waiting on one more CS, but that person has already contacted me and is making a mage for us. So we'll have a full party of awesome people.

Let's be real, we've got a full pearty of people who love to pick fights. He's going to have to be the Party Dad or the custody disputes over who gets what tent and what gold piece will be legendary.

I'd say he'll probably become an alcoholic. Plus, slime - he can go something like 80% alcohol by volume.

Aim, new class unlocked: Beer Slime!

(+100% damage from fire)

I can totally see Vynn and Aim finding some common ground in the appreciation of good liquor.
One moment they'll be bickering and the next they'll be piss drunk on some fine wine XD
