Election Day News Links and Coverage

If nothing else, watching American elections is amusing. Glad to see that the funny main character guy won over the stale background extras prop. Don't expect for anything to change over here though.

Forecasts are that the GOP will pick up 3 seats in the House. So, 47, a majority in the Senate, a majority in the House and control of the Supreme Court and appointmeny of many new Justices. We can probably expect a couple of conservative justices to retire in the next few years, and rumor has it that Justice Sotomayor's health may force her out as well. Not bad.

Any of the left wing justices looking weak and pale? :)

I passed out. I'm going to have to review my prediction in the thread. I'm fairly certain this was it.

Honestly pissed that Brown lost. But happy that we'll have another Senate seat open for a Democrat.....I've always appreciated having split seats in the Senate for Ohio

Ok - I didn't have 45 winning the popular vote, so we'll have to see where that gets out...overall I got it right so far

Popular vote

Electoral vote:
I've been thinking 45 for quite some time, but the momentum that Harris is has right now has been sustained longer than I anticipated.

It all comes down to Pennsylvania.

This is not a policy race ...it's a vibes race. The positivity and happier demeanor on the left might just be enough to ride to victory.

I think we'll know more after the first debate.
I didn't add any new prediction after the debate (I don't think....still reviewing)

Well, it did come down to Pennsylvania, altho if Michigan and Arizona close for Trump, it would've just taken longer to get there.

It's good we don't have a long drawn out cliffhanger though. We really do need to get back to all states counting all votes on the night.

This next few weeks and the transition period is going to be interesting, along with Trump's Cabinet picks. I do hope we don't have any stupid riots though. After all this that would just be so disappointing. We need things to settle down now that this is over.

They do all count the votes on the night. Some states are required to count mail in and early voting last.

My question is which of his promised folks will be thrown under the bus. Do we really think he'll offer RFKjr the health czar position?

It's what he does...loyalty will be tested. I think that he'd have an episode of squid games for positions if it gave him a ratings boost.

We need to get back to, you gonna vote, then carry ya'ass to the polls and vote. On the day.

The University of Oregon’s University Health Services is hosting the event on Tuesday, which is Election Day.

According to three event pages, the university’s heath services department will bring therapy goats, dogs, and even “Quacktavious the Therapy Duck.”

Sad, isn't it. If they're that far gone that they can't cope with reality, they should be being treated seriously rather than being challenged at university.

We corrupted the university system with the hazy notion that college is a right for every student and it is the duty of the government to fund advanced education too.

Now at the top, it's publish or perish and at the bottom it's standards low enough that any ability will do.

Critical thinkers need not apply.
