My local Member of Parliament, Kemi Badenoch was elected Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition last weekend. Ninety minutes ago she had her first session of Prime Minister’s Question Time.

Her first question ‘ The Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary met President Trump in September. Did the Foreign Secretary take that opportunity to apologise for making derogatory and scatological references including and I quote ‘ Trump is not only a woman hating Neo-Nazi sympathising sociopath, he is also a profound threat to international order? And if he did not apologise will the Prime Minister do so now on his behalf?’ No reply!

The Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, has the nickname of the Tottenham Turnip. Think of him as a younger Al Sharpton with executive power who in the last month has been arguing for reparations for slavery for the Caribbean islands starting at ten trillion pounds plus.
 
In further news from London, Just Stop Oil sympathisers have graffitied the United States Embassy with orange paint spray. Stating that ‘ this morning the world wakes to find it has slipped further into fascism and climate breakdown’.

Based on recent incidents the vandals, including a 72 year old pensioner, face up to a year in prison. Perhaps they should now go back to the same embassy and claim asylum from the ‘fascist’ British state.
 
Why the fuck is Harris scheduling concession?

I'm seriously pissed about this....it will come up as a talking point for years.... ¯⁠\⁠(⁠°⁠_⁠o⁠)⁠/⁠¯
 
I did my part, my role, and I can sleep at night. I didn't have the extra money for donations, and I didn't have transportation to just go out volunteering constantly. Certainly not in deep-red MAGA country. I did cast my vote and urged people online to vote for Harris-Walz and Democrats in general. Who failed? The American people? Sure, the undecided voters who didn't inform themselves and waited until the last minute to vote with their gut based upon the prices of eggs and bread and gas. The regular MAGAs are a lost cause. That's a given. The swing voters failed to an extent. They choose wrong, but it was their choice to make. I might protest a lot of things, but I don't waste my time protesting the choices of the electorate.

In the end, Democrats tried hard, fought hard, reached out to people, but they still lost, because they didn't bring a message that resonated. Abortion wasn't enough to apparently overcome higher fuel prices and food prices. They didn't bring a "vote for her because" argument. They brought a "vote against him" argument. That argument could get people to vote for your candidate or it could get them to vote for third parties. You need a positive argument that could overcome economic grievances. Swing voters aren't hard MAGA, anti-trans, racist, sexist types. That's the MAGA base to the extent that anyone is. They're just mad at the party in the White House, and since Biden wasn't on the ballot, they took it out on Harris. Oh, and once again, the Democrats proved that they have a remarkable ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They picked a candidate with tons of baggage in 2016 and they picked one who didn't even make it to the Iowa caucuses in 2024. The only candidate who ever beat Trump was a glad-handing, schmoozing, old-school, retail politics, "good ol' boys club" machine politician born in Scranton. That's just a historical fact.

Make what you want. I stand by my warning that Trump is a megalomaniac who shouldn't be anywhere near the White House, but time will test that assertion soon enough.

Learn how to ask a simple question. She should have faced the public last night. She was probably too busy raging and spent the rest of the night in full bitch-mode firing people at will and reverting to type.

I don't know what the fuck is up with these sore losers. You lost. I wanted you to win, just like I wanted Hillary to win, but you lost. Grow up, put on your big girl panties, and face the world. If every other Presidential loser (other than Trump, of course, who is even worse at this) can do this, so can you. Brush up your resume, concede the election in a proper speech (the night of, not the next day), and get on that damn lecture circuit like we all know that you will. You'll be fine, unless Trump actually carries out his threats of retribution, of course.

Seems like the problem was she didn't have an actual concession speech prepared and she's not good at doing spontaneous stuff.

Article says that last night they were working on a speech telling people to hang on, expecting I guess that the count would go on and they'd come out on top at the end. So no concession speech was prepared - looks like they were taken by surprise by the swing and the quick Trump win on the night - can't say I blame them. You know how I feel and I sure wasn't prepared to say Trump had actually won last night myself.

And with no speech prepared? She's not a spontaneous speaker, we all know that she needs a script, and she HAD conceded. I certainly don't begrudge her the time to prepare myself. One should be gracious in defeat and magnanimous in victory, and I think in the end both Harris and Trump have managed that, which is a step in the right direction, which we sorely need.

IMHO, the next step is to stop all the crazy lawfare and respect a win for what it is. Go back to civilized debate and preparing for the next elections while the party with a majority governs.

And now, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed on Ukraine and on Trump pushing Europe to do more, and at the same time stop slow rolling the aid and rub Putin's face in "who's the superpower."

Harris is perfectly safe. Trump won't retribute against her personally. She may have been complicit but nobody could ever accuse her of being the brains behind anything. Like Biden, she was a puppet. If she has any sense, she's become a talking head.
