Emily’s NEW positivity and being nice to each other thread

The reception of my latest story has exceeded my expectations. A little more than 800 views today, with four comments already. The first ten votes were all 5s, with one 4 since then.

The strange thing is that this isn't really a story I'd point to and say, "This is some of my best work," or even "This is the hottest scene I've written." But apparently my readers disagree, and who am I to argue with those fine, discerning people?
Cool 😎

Mine too. 4.92/26. Maybe the eclipse put everybody in a generous mood.

Every time I post a new story, I tlhink this might be my best yet, then later, I decide it definitely wasn't. So, none of my stories are my best.

I have yours tabbed for when I have time.

It's still rated that high??? I coulda sworn I one bombed it with my main account and at least three alts... :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, good job. Nice story. I'll go back and vote when the check clears.

EDIT: Five Stars, a comment, and a link to the story so you can go read it; Pas de Trois.

Dude, you don't realize what you've done.

Sometimes the artist is the last to know. Yeah, you earned all those stars and comments.

Stop! It's supposed to be *one* chicken and *three* goats!

I was thinking earlier about the similarities between zipping computer files, caricature, impersonation, and stereotyping. They're all forms of data compression, in a sense, whether that be mathematical, physical, behavioral, or cultural. If you were being compressed for archiving or transmission, what do you think you could be reduced to?

I'm pretty sure I'm already the compressed version of myself. I've tried very hard to get rid of any roundness in my character.

Finally finished a story that has been haunting me for weeks. Well, sort of. An edit or two to iron out a few mistakes might be needed, but it should be uploaded very soon - and that brings me some rays of positivity and mild satisfaction. Furthermore, it is my great hope that each and everyone of you reading this is having a wonderful week.

I gave it a 1, but my finger slipped on the 5th star. Sorry
Actually, it's a bit of a relief. The longer the score stayed so impossibly high, the more worried I became. I mean, normally anything above a 4.5 would make me happy, but now I found myself cursing when the score dropped below 4.95.

Now it's all a bit more normal and I can view future votes with more equanimity.

one of mine is still on 5... but only with 6 votes. It's quite frustrating. It also has low views, so has just been lost in the Lit wilderness.

Loved the story, by the way.

Thanks!

I see that your story is chapter 6 in a series, and the first four chapters were published decades ago. That's probably where the problem is. Not enough old readers left, and too many new readers shying away from the "Ch. 06".

(But you probably knew that already.)

Chapter 5 went ok (originally written as one long story, but I split this bit off to give an update) and that was published a little while before.

It was published when there had been lots of delays and also the V day stories, so it just sank. c'est la vie.

Hey Shelby, it seems that your 1 has finally dropped.
Not as bad as the ones she bombed me with.

But the weird thing is, I've never seen this many votes per view. About 1 in 12. 240 votes with just over 3K reads. Is that typical in Romance?
