When my wife, and she is an older woman, sits alone at a restaurant or bar, which is seldom, she has no problem attracting attention. Men in the 50s, 60s and 70s will go out of their way to do something that will cause her to look up.
Now my wife is a German woman, and in the past I and other men I know have felt German ladies tend to make and hold eye contact easier than American women, so maybe she is somewhat responsible for the attention.

Whenever my wife and I have a date night and we have to meet at the restaurant or bar I'm always running late since my work often keeps me just a little longer than expected.

That and the simple fact that I enjoy coming in and observing my wife alone at the bar for a few.minutes to see who may approach her and more times than not I'd see some gentleman conversing with her. Not at all a surprise for me tbh.
