Nixon and Kissinger agreed to rapprochement with the People's Republic of China in the 1970s for two reasons. First, because they were preparing "public opinion" for a retreat from Vietnam to appease both sides of the political divide in the US, and second because they wanted to drive a bigger diplomatic wedge between China and the Soviet Union (widening the Sino-Soviet split) while agreeing to Detente with both.
Ford carried on this policy, as did Carter initially. However, after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, on top of the Iranian hostage crisis, Carter not only ended Detente and introduced all sorts of boycotts of the Soviets, but even brought back the draft in the US!

^^^ Lot of horseshit there. What hysterical western claims? Putins plans to take Kyiv and install a puppet government in the first few days failed miserably. And the reason they appear comfortable holding territory is only because they can’t advance.
The ATACMS, the F-16s, and the full complement of M1 Abrams tanks can’t get to Ukraine soon enough. Now that the Ukrainians have fully stabilized the lines of conflict and made some inroads against Russian defensive lines, I feel a lot more comfortable about those ALMOST top of the line weapons being delivered.
More advanced drones to augment those top of the line weapons should be prioritized as well.
If the Ukrainians can use those top of the line weapons to take out the Crimean bridge , the Sevastopol Naval base, and Russian supply depots and routes far behind their defensive lines, then Russia will have to consider whether the cost of continuing their unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression is worth it.
And Ukraine has been increasingly bringing the war to Russian soil by attacking Russia’s power grid in its westernmost cities.
Russia currently has sooooo much more to lose than Ukraine by continuing this war. And Ukraine is beginning to attack Russia like it has nothing to lose - because it really doesn’t. Ukrainians are basically saying: “Freedom or death” at this point. Nukes don’t even scare them.

As for the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics and their fighters, resisting Ukrainian fascism was front and center of the split from Ukraine, although admittedly the forces involved are across the political spectrum, from Russian nationalists (even fascists) to separatists to Communists and Soviet Union supporters. On the Ukrainian side is neonazi battalions in the national guard since the Euromaidan coup in 2014, and glorification and support of neonazis and actual Nazis by US Democrats and their lackeys. The US Democrats paint themselves as the reasonable and sane ones on the side of ordinary people, like Canadian politicians in general. They are full of shit.
