Frontiers of Alusia OOC thread.

If we're still going I'll throw a post out there. I know it's been said there is no order. That throws me off a bit personally. Mostly cuz I hate to jump the gun and ruin someone else's idea they might have thought out. Just my reasoning for the delays really.

We can always set up an order if that is the case then.

Sorry I haven't been responsiveness, work, and mental blocks suck.

Well, I don't want there to be any pressure on anyone to write if they don't feel up to it. Let's set up the order we have so it won't get confusing, but nobody's gonna take away your birthday if you post out of order if you just have something you have to write. How about that?

If that's agreeable, the order is: Me, Jack, Cheska, KotKittygirl, and later we'll add in any players of the other characters. CT will be playing a couple of the npcs for me, as an example. But their part will come later in the story.

Well, I guess it's only been 10 days since the last post. And I did say 'no pressure'. But to any co-writers, don't let being involved in this one put you off of taking any others. Something tells me this isn't going to go anywhere.

Let's call this one.

I'd gladly write something with each of you, perhaps another time. This just wasn't a good time for this I guess. :rose:

*huggles* I am still thinking up Characters..

A Naughty Tiefling with a thing for elf booty.

a sorecerer/wizard with gender issues.. ie; Can't remember what gender s/he is.

"Ok, I make a really great woman, or so those vikings said last week.. but this harem of women say I am most delightful man... dash it all!"

I'd been contemplating attempting to introduce myself as fresh blood for the ten minutes before I read this.
Damn my lurking habits!

Speaking of gender issues; have you ever considered a scenario where your character makes a bet with someone of the opposite gender about something, and this someone has the means through magic or an artifact to switch bodies with your character? The bet is worded so that it seems the stakes are physical encounters for a certain period, say something like 'If I win, I get to do anything with your body I want for one (time increment to be determined).'

Just a silly idea I thought about once.

Well, I've not seen a lot of successful group threads, and this one just got going at a bad time for some of the writers. And I debated whether to post the details of the plot I had in mind or just let it be revealed as the story went along. I didn't want to give away the story, but I also wanted to keep people's interest since it was going so slowly.

Oh well, if there is a next time, maybe it will work out better. At least this frees us up for other stories if we find one we like.

Well, Hang in there.. a new thread is bound to start sooner or later.

That sounds like a great idea. :D

Good points, the both of you.
I just liked the idea of a group thread here because I find myself less interested in a one-on-one situation unless it's... er.... more immeadiate. I don't mind prolonging them but I can only wax philosophical on the roundness of a tit for so long before I get bored with myself. It there are several interpersonal relationships I am more interested over the long term. Perhaps this is why I have (mayhaps foolishly) been more involved in ORP than SRP. Hell, when I came to SRP the first thing I did was pretend to be a ghost.

Plus the idea of a gaggle of gals attempting to influence a man into their beds has a gender role reversal aspect that amuses me.

To be fair Cheska, some of your characters from a previous thread were interesting and gave me some ideas but I didn't want to hit you up on them only to get bored and drop out. That would be rude.

I still think the basic plot of this could be a good story, and with gamers as writers, switching off to take us all through new adventures when the first is done, I think that's a good concept for a group role play. We all did around a table top, why not here?

But I guess it needs to move a little faster than it did, so people can maintain interest. And I'm just not in a place where I could manage more than 1-2 posts a week maximum, and some weeks not even that.

Dramatic Flare, are you suggesting you'd like to do this sometime with you as the central male character? I think poor Jack has encountered his first case of Lit burn-out. It happens to us all from time to time.

Thank you Dramatic.
Which Characters did you like?
I do prefer group RP to One on One, except with the right person and my stoopid moods.

We really do need to save this plot, it has potential from what I have a seen, and yes.. a round Robin group, where a new story is started by a member when the old one is completed.
Or, a new story begins inside an old story...

Let's say we meet a Baron/Duke/Noble of some kind during this plot and he has a scheme of his own.. we meet him in this story arch and get to know him, but we don't start his arch until the old one is complete. This way, less work to introduce him and everyone has a good memory of him.. which makes him more believable.

Well, Cheska, the one that stood out to me the most was the martial artist from the WW Scion system, I believe. The one who would only let go sexually if the other person beat them. The problem I had was that the idea I had required two different characters to go after her, a rather powerful ammoral villainous noble who only outpowered her through resources. "However many men you have to defeat sequentially to get tired, that is the number I will send plus a few more," sort of deal. And then a romantic hero character who really wants to earn her by her own rules (views it as a challenge with a reward of bringing two people happiness) but isn't quite strong enough to beat her. The biggest problem I have with it is, if I play both, I would feel more like I was DMing you a series of dilemmas and choices rather than playing along with you if that makes sense.
Seemed like a good story though.

I do believe it's his second, Annisthyrienne. He was part of a roleplay with me in ORP a few months ago that he dropped out of via lack of posting. I might have a little to do with that though. The DM made my half elf sorceror's other half the half dragon son of Tiamat with a strength of 50 at level 1, and we never got beyond the section where the power went to his head. Though I personally tried to undercut his angry scaly ass bby constantly breaking things he needed to use like cups and chairs so as to not offend the other players. But Jack still stopped posting soon after so I don't know what worked out which way.

But I was thinking that taking that central male role would be fun though I wouldn't select a paladin. A character could be reticent to cavort with the ladies due to being too driven and views it as a waste of time, or still deep in the throes of sorrow from a recently deceased spouse, or with a little interparty planning he could suffer a racial taboo against mating beyond his species (but could possibly be considered an inferior specimen by his own race.) Thhat would require him being the only one of his race in the group though.

But striking your fancy and being able to support your fancy are two different fancy skills.

Exactly what I had in mind. The seeds for the next or future adventures would be sown in the current one, if only by who they meet along the way, or some random circumstance that develops into more later on. In fact, even if the next person didn't have something in mind already, maybe some detail about the current adventure inspires them to develop a story around it for the next adventure.

I do recall Jack mentioning the role play he was involved in, and differences of opinion with the DM that led him to end it. He also recommended another player of that game who couldn't post as often as the DM wanted, and got left behind as a result. That is part of why I wanted this one to be slow paced so people wouldn't feel pressured. But I realize in hindsight that the story has to move along fast enough to keep interest up. What exactly the happy medium in between is, I don't know.

It was Jack's idea to make this a group thing with multiple female roles and one central male character. I try to encompass my co-writer's fantasies in the story if possible and if I have no problem with it. But it is a little difficult to find several female players who basically end up as part of a harem who actually want their characters to be that. In this case, I just figured we'd try to say that the female characters had each had, or might still have a relationship with him, and possibly with each other, if that was their bent. I think with myself, Cheska, and Hotkittygirl, we had a group of females who could just as easily write characters who went both ways, either separately or at the same time, if we wanted a threesome.

Anyhow, my main idea was that the group would uncover this slaver pit fighting ring, end up raiding the secret location to rescue one of their own who gets abducted when he/she finds out the truth about the slavers illegal pit fighting. They end up raiding it with the Rangers, who asked for their help in finding it after they became local heroes by slaying the ogre. (The Rangers would only be along for extra muscle, and to make sure things didn't turn into a killing field.)

The characters would free some slaves, perhaps make some enemies that would recur throughout future adventures, and pick up the cat-girl as a new member of their group. She'd be wild at first, but the kind treatment of the group would bring her around, and her loyalty would prove to be exceptional.

Anyhow, they would be even bigger heroes after that within the town, and it could become their base of operations with continuing allies and characters to interact with. They would also make powerful enemies among the slaver's guild who could be at the center of future adventures.

It might all be a moot point now, but other writers had asked about joining, and could play the parts of the bad guys, or maybe the Ranger Captain Gareth, or other town characters, or even freed slaves who wanted to join the group.

Well, maybe someday.

We can at least keep this thread alive for RP discussion an future plans.

I'd like that.

And if there is like a line or a hat or something, for D&D harems. Where can I get in the queue?

Seriously, show me the man who does not want a D&D harem, and I will show you a liar..

You must speak to the elf about tickets.

DramaticFlare, I don't have a Scion character.. I have an Exalted character.
