I told somebody who made me feel used to get lost today.

It's like eating Brussels sprouts: i know that it's good for me, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and i hate every minute of it.

Here’s a tip: when declaring an illegal emergency that will be challenged in the courts: try not to say “I didn’t need to do this” during the declaration speech.

So fucking deplorable.

During a pleasant meet-and-greet visit with a casual acquaintance:

Dude: i know it's not my place as a sub to ask you questions, but...
Me:  ..... ..... ..... FUCK!
Also me: <deep breath> Forget about everything you've ever seen about Dommes in porn. I'm not like them.

I'm better. :D

I'm pro choice but with the rise if blatant infanticide I don't blame them.

Who could have imagined that extreme positions would be countered with extreme positions. Nobody can see the middle anymore.

What middle?
Pro choice and infanticide are 2 different things.

I’m not getting into this, here.
That one comment is my 2 cents.

You just did. In fact you contributed twice and now you refuse to allow it to be discussed. Charming.

Post term abortion is infanticide. There is no way around that. It's been all over the news lately. That it was ever a thing at all is just gauranteed to make pro-lifers rabid forever. "Look where your goal posts have moved". And that's why I don't blame them, even if they are taking their zeal to extremes internationally. No one blames a hornet when it's nest has been kicked.

November 29, 2015: A shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, killed Garrett Swasey, Jennifer Markovski, Ke'Arre Stewart and injured several more.
May 31, 2009: Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed as he served as an usher at a church in Wichita, Kansas.[I 24] This was not Tiller's first time being a victim to anti-abortion violence. Dr.Tiller was shot once before in 1993.
July 16, 2001: Steven Rogers, a security guard at a clinic in Melbourne, Australia was shot in the chest and killed. The attacker brought ropes and gags into the clinic along with 16 litres of kerosene, intending to burn all 15 staff and 26 patients to death.
July 11, 2000: Dr. Romalis was stabbed in the lobby of his clinic.
October 23, 1998: Dr. Barnett Slepian was shot to death with a high-powered rifle at his home in Amherst, New York. His was the last in a series of similar shootings against providers in Canada and northern New York state.
January 29, 1998: Robert Sanderson, an off-duty police officer who worked as a security guard at an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, was killed when his workplace was bombed. The killer was also charged with three Atlanta bombings: the 1997 bombing of an abortion center, the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing, and another of a lesbian nightclub.
November 11, 1997: Dr. Jack Fainman, 66, of Winnipeg, Manitoba was shot. A gunman fired through the back window of Fainman's riverbank home in Winnipeg about 9 pm and struck him in the right shoulder, inches from his heart.
November 10, 1995: Dr. Hugh Short, 62, of Ancaster, Ontario was shot. A sniper's bullet fired into his home shattered his elbow and ended his surgical career.
December 30, 1994: Two receptionists, Shannon Lowney and Lee Ann Nichols, were killed in two clinic attacks in Brookline, Massachusetts.
November 8, 1994: In 1994, a sniper fired two bullets into the home of Dr. Garson Romalis, 57, of Vancouver, British Columbia who was eating breakfast. One hit his thigh, destroyed some of his muscles, broke his femur and damaged his femoral artery.
July 29, 1994: Dr. John Britton and James Barrett, a clinic escort, were both shot to death outside another facility, the Ladies Center, in Pensacola... The clinic in Pensacola had been bombed before in 1984 and was also bombed subsequently in 2012.[I 21]
March 10, 1993: Dr. David Gunn of Pensacola, Florida was fatally shot during a protest. He had been the subject of wanted-style posters distributed by Operation Rescue in the summer of 1992.

Claiming that the anti-choice* movement is rabid because of [whatever the latest manufactured provocation might be] ignores the fact that they have been rabid for decades. Or rather, selectively rabid, when it suits them.

Rabid dogs don't make websites publishing the addresses of their opponents. Angry hornets don't run carefully calculated long-term political lobbying campaigns at an international level, and they sure as fuck don't go quote-mining academics from other countries or selectively editing propaganda videos to manufacture casus belli. The "lone wolves" are useful idiots guided by calculating folk who know exactly what they're doing.

Anybody who's remotely familiar with the dynamics of abuse understands that violent, controlling people will ALWAYS find a provocation. If there isn't enough to justify their behaviour, they will make something up. It's like telling a battered spouse "maybe they'd stop hitting you if you didn't get so mouthy".

*I refuse to use the term "pro-life" for the folk who spread the kind of propaganda that led to the murders of three people at Planned Parenthood in Colorado, who give zero fucks about hundreds of miscarriages caused by poison water in places like Flint. When's the last time you saw these folk campaigning about the USA's atrociously high maternal mortality rate? No, this is about *one specific thing* that kills embryos/fetuses, not a general commitment to preservation of life.

There are exceptions, a few folk who do take a consistent approach to being "pro-life" - but they don't have a lot of influence on the conversation and it's not what the main movement is about.

Missed this bit:

You just did. In fact you contributed twice and now you refuse to allow it to be discussed. Charming.

This is dishonest, verging on gaslighting. Fara didn't "refuse to allow it to be discussed", she just said she wasn't going to participate further in that discussion.

Nobody owes you a discussion. For some of us, discussing certain topics can take a great deal of time or emotional labour which we're not always in a place to give. I KNOW you understand this because I've seen you do it yourself, repeatedly: when a discussion gets too stressful you'll pull out, with or without notice to other participants.

That is a healthy choice, it's self-care. But the fact that you're now shaming Fara for that same kind of self-care is illustrative of exactly why some of us find that talking with you may sometimes be too much emotional labour. It is *very draining* to talk to somebody who does not respect the fact that others may also require self-care, who turns that into some kind of personal oppression.

Having now drained my own batteries on this one, I need to exercise that same self-care I've just been talking about. I don't have the energy to participate further in conversation with you for a long time, and I'll be using the ignore option to remind myself of that.
