Well, my Scotch of choice is "Old Pulteney," from Wick, Scotland. lol Yes, I am tense when I debate/argue, but that is because I am fervent in my beliefs, and that is the way it should be. An old country song from the 90's said, "If a man doesn't stand for something, he'll fall for anything."

I am always amused by how those of us who believe in God give volumes of scientific proof which proves that their is a God, and all we get back usually are very short answers like, "Well that does not mean there is one, so "nanny-boo-boo," prove it then, when we just did in a stack of papers they never read. They wouldn't believe if God walked in their front doors and performed one miracle after another, so there is no helping people like that, for they have already programmed themselves "not to believe." And, those of us who are fervent in our beliefs, and who argue in a strong fashion, are always labelled as "meanies." It tickles me.

Anyway, to change the tone, even though I am a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan, I was so glad the Redsox won last year, and want to see the Cubs win one day, and the White Sox, too! There, hope I made someone smile on this forum. lol

I don't watch/read the media. I get all my news off the Lit forums.

That's a malicious rumour and I'll sue!

Some scientists believe and some don't believe because of science but it's all belief and not proof.

There is a pink elephant dancing on my garden fence, a donkey fucking a kazoo in the drawer and Mrs O'Reilly giving birth to Jesus Christ.

You'd better believe it, I'm wearing a white coat and I'm researching unexplained holes in a string vest.

Are there nipples involved?

(The BIG question is - would god feel at home on a porn site?)

I can understand becoming hostile being forced into religion as a child. No one should have done that to you. This happens a lot with the JW's. But as a Christian and through my beliefs, it is not God who has fucked up your life or the Earth. It is quite the opposite - Lucifer.

I'm not going to sit here and preach to you, but would like to recommend reading the King James version of the Bible to understand. I didn't read the ENTIRE thread here, but if you already have done this, nevermind. You may not have enough faith to believe it is true (KJ Bible) because of your past experiences.

You can't give up on hope. You just can't. There is a way out of your pain, and if you'd like to discuss this more, I would be more than happy to chat with you in a pm. I hate to see someone feeling this way. I once was there myself.

No pressure to you - just my heart reaching out. I hope you find peace. I truly do.
although i appreciate what you are trying to do, i do disagree w it. neither the bible nor god can help me w my problems. if anything, this so called 'all-loving' god is the cause of all of life's problems, that is, if there is even one out there, which i highly doubt. anyways, i have read the king james version and to be honest, it sounds like a whole lot of horse shit to me. nice story, to bad it's fictional.

God is a human concept. Creation is not a concept of god.

'Religion is but a desperate attempt to find an escape from the truly dreadful situation in which we find ourselves. Here we are in this wholly fantastic universe with scarcely a clue as to whether our existence has any real significance. No wonder then that many people feel the need for some belief that gives them a sense of security, and no wonder that they become very angry with people like me who say that this is illusory.'

you are my new god. well done! i couldn't agree more.

So, you disliked my quote from "Psalm 14:1" (King James Version), and therefore resorted to quoting a man (Fred Hoyle). t
i love when people respond via using the bible as proof of god/religion. let's now, between the bible, which is 'apparently' god's word, and a man. who of the two are ACTUALLY tangible?

you can't use the bible as a base for your facts when it's not even proven as a reliable source.

I can't make it to your wedding,
but I'm sure I will be at your wake

when you get to the point make sure I am still awake
I could buy myself a reason
I could sell myself a job
and for all these reasons
I am my own damn god!"

think what you like...your are in control of what matters, if you choose to hold your anger it becomes nothing more than just that...anger, hate, dispair...this is path to the dark side. Not that it's so bad over here...sometimes we have alot of fun.

I am not asking you to become religious, because I am no longer religious, have not even been to a church service since 1997. But, I still believe that I came from a "supreme intelligence." It always tickles me that the ones who do not believe in God, think that the responsibility of proof is not on their shoulders as well. I say that he does exist, so "prove" that he doesn't. I don't know if you knew it or not, but there are a large number of "reputable scientists" who not only believe in, but can prove that there is a God. They don't believe in God depite of their science, but because of their science.

The proof that there is a "supreme intelligence, a God," lies in the fact that "everything reproduces after its own kind," (no cats being given birth by dogs), and the fact that "Life produces life." You are here because of your parents, and their parents, and their parents. Now, push that back all the way to the first parents, and the question must be raised, "Okay, where did the first parents come from, since everything reproduces "after its own kind," and since life can only come from another life like its own?" The only logical answer is as follows.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over
the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So
God created man in his own image, in the image of God created
he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:26, 17, KJV)

If you do not accept this, then there is nothing I can do to help your belief. But, just because you still don't accept that there is a God does not mean that there is not one. I have already proven the case for a God, it's up to you to accept it. If you do not accept it, then that is your choice! We are the result of a "Supreme Intelligence" who had a plan layed out before time began, "not" the result of a giant firecracker, then being brought forth from some "primordial soup," by some pure chance and luck of nature. All this complexity in our infinite universe brought here "by pure, astronomical chance?" I should think not!

My poem to God, or the terrified believer!

Once Inspired… Again?

Insipid caricatures of independent thinkers
hew to easy in the nth.
As lemmings follow traitorous leaders,
a golden path tarnishes violently,
splashing blood and gore
over the jagged moment of truth.

Open mighty chasm of beliefs,
reveal your holiest deceptions,
strike the breast of repression,
with a blow eternal.

Seekers of futures unimpeded
by martyrs of ancient myths
the time to join is nigh,
before wicked walls of silence
forever condemn individuality
to rusty legirons and the brutal
fires of dominion…

I wrote this awhile ago...out of frustration for organized religion and all the death, distruction and pain caused by it.

Crux of Belief

Birth place of civilization,
where dust feeds
famished souls the venom of belief.

Mothers cry at birth
already awaiting death
for their newly born sons.
Infants gasp,
their first bursts of air
filled with
religion and hate.
Nursing,
growing,
living
the theology of pain.

Soldiers footsteps echo,
an ominous lullaby
for the ears of children.
They look at the world with
eyes a million years old,
watching the
Blood baptize
parched earth.
Seeing that Man has been cast out.

I would choose to endure not
this hateful ground.
Crucify me,
for I would gladly die
a thousand deaths
if I could wash the stains on man's soul away.

There are no Angels
that watch over,
phantoms are all that will remain
to bear witness to this
plauge.
Sheding ghostly tears
on the wind blown sands
where man began.

Where are our gods now?

Legions have returned,
festering
feeding
growing
consuming all.

Forgive us,
for we know not what we do
in the name of all that is holy.
