I would be willing to wear a collar out in public. I've often seen people who do that just as a fashion accessory, and I don't feel that it would be inappropriate to be wearing a simple collar even in a place such as the grocery store. No one other than my Dom and I need to know that it's more than just a young woman who likely associates with people who frequent Hot Topic. xP
To attach a leash to the collar, though, I agree with what most everyone else has said about how the location/context would be important. At a party or club with a D/s theme, it'd be fine. In a location where no one else is likely to be around (a well-secluded area, potentially at night, for example), I might also be willing.

I don't think it will scar any kid for life or anything -- I may think the person is kind of a douchebag for needing that much attention but in certain neighborhoods it wouldn't really be noticed much. Folsom St. leather bar v. the Marina district in SF, for example. I suddenly miss Shankara...

Yeah, I wouldn't be worried about scarring any kids, really, especially if I was walking around Christopher St, or something. But I personally just wouldn't feel comfortable being that... exposed in public. I'm not an exhibitionist.

Noticed in more then a few threads where people speak of public activies hurting the people who just happen to be around. Not sure if this is going to make sense since I just woke up but oh well. I am wondering if most people have these views or are there more like me who think....Why does it matter if I want the experience for myself who cares what they think?

With regard to leashes specifically, I'm just plain uninterested. I prefer a partner who's voice-trained, rendering collar & leash unnecessary.
