Hello From My Englishness

Yes it's pretty dire. Though anyone in authority that's accepting "lockdown made me" as an excuse needs their head checked too. I'm also extremely concerned about the child abuse figures too although a lot of them may take a good while to surface.

Yeah, at no point should that be accepted as an excuse. There's plenty of adverts being run on the radio at the moment for Childline and the NSPCC, though not many on TV.

Hope everyone's had a good week, hopefully the bank holiday won't be used as an excuse by idiots to head to the beaches, parks etc.

Still waiting for decent stats on online sexual abuse and thats been a crime for 17 years 🙄 online grooming will have grown exponentially. All the dv awareness but no violence or sexual abuse against children awareness.

Once again awareness is focussed around who might be able to “save themselves”. Zero media on children stuck with their abusers because noone can fathom kids escaping.

Anyway..soapbox sorry 🙈

Hope youre all okay and readying for the bank holiday

We, and I don't just mean the UK, failed the test of a civilised society long ago, and continue to do so in our failure to help, protect and care for the weakest and most vulnerable people.

Yes its a sobering moment when first realise that! Thankful for knowing enough individuals who despair at state of society

Knowledge is one thing, but I, like many perhaps, feel clueless and powerless to do anything transformative and I doubt ranting on an eroticoporn site is the place to start a revolution!

Ey but doesnt mean thats the only place some of us rant. Some of us may be carving a living out of trying to make change at all levels of the system. Tho that has a whole new layer of fatigue

My current version of madness is nowhere near the level of pushing a baby out of my body and being 100% responsible for it. However, the husband did tell me yesterday that he may be working from home for months to come. He has already heard three different proposals for how his office's current space may be repurposed by the university in light of bringing students back to campus with social distancing measures in place.

I just started laughing when he told me. Probably a mildly disturbing laugh. A subtler version of how people laugh in movies right before they go insane.

A suggestion: husband take back his office and social distancing students come round to your place.
Just an idea

I feel that laugh too. I'm close to a 'Here's Johnny!' moment

Ha ha! I know this isn't funny, but I got an image in my head of all usually sane Americans having a twitching eye and a compulsive laugh.

I feel for you. My reaction when my wife told me she would be continuing to work from home was very similar,,,

Imagine what it's like with a partner permanently around. It can be extremely difficult at times.

Many of us are in the same boat: my husband loves working from home and it looks like many at his company do too. So now that they were forced to test it out, there is a good chance that this will stay permanent with maybe one office day per week. Just kill me now!

A certain amount of flexibility in life does look under threat doesn't it!

Is there an escape committee?
