When I was new here and very green, I had a friend. He was my turtle shell and I was his good girl.
(Well, we had other names, too. ) It was informal, and very organic, but it worked for us... for a time.

That was a long time ago and I'm sure that I have idealized it to some degree in my mind since, but now and then it's nice to revisit the memory - however bittersweet - of being wanted, and tended, and cherished. There have been one ore two since who have filled some of those gaps, but I never felt that heart connection again.

Someday I will have it again... but for real, this time. *brave sniffles*

I have to have a shell sometimes too. I get afraid sometimes of what my emotions want to do. Today I was listening to the preshow and they talked about that girl who fought cancer a few years ago and I had a hard time trying to stop crying because it was sad even though she's been in remission for years.

Being human sucks sometimes.
