I miss the fitness threads and the fitness Doms!

I fell off the wagon and it ran me over a few times. I need to get back to working out but damn the holidays and all the delicious foods that get cooked. Two years ago, I was doing really well because I had to walk to work since I didn't have a car but then I got one along with a job with crazy hours and it all gained weight again. :(

I'm hoping for a good deal on a juicer after Christmas with stores trying to get rid of stock.

I started exercising on my birthday and was doing great. Then I got a bad bug. Now, just when I felt ready to start exercising again, I am coming down with another bug. Argh!

Between work, injuries, and a cold I've felt just the edge of, I keep avoiding going to CrossFit...already.

fail xD

You can do it! *\(^o^/*

Just remember how good you feel AFTER you go!

You don't feel up to it until you start moving.

*\(^o^)/* *cheers*

I'm going today :) I just hope I don't DIE with this heat we've been having. There's cooling in the building, but it's not great...

EDIT: I went. I almost died. I swear. THIS CLOSE.

Okay, not that close to DEATH, but I did get that close to crying xD I mostly cry when I'm angry/frustrated, and I was SUPER frustrated with myself and my strength level. It'll get better :)

Oooh, what do they feel like?

They are like running barefoot. Your stride and weight balance are much different in regular or running shoes. Running, or even walking, in Vibrams shifts the impact so that your calves get more of a workout.

Better all around, really, but *ouch* to get started!

I lost 65 pounds this past year and a half (a bit more, but I backslid coming off a medication) and my goal for this year is to lose the last 45.
Weight Watchers and personal training, mostly.

I lost a lot by eating a protein rich smoothie for breakfast (before I wasn't eating breakfast) and not snacking.
My trainer is also having me do interval training and the ladder to get my heart rate up. I resemble an awkward elephant when doing the ladder, but I do it anyway.
I need that accountability to go to the gym. If I don't go, he doesn't get paid.
ETA: I think the last 10-15 pounds are the hardest, so don't be hard on yourself if it comes of sloooowly.

Awesome...you inspire me. :) I've heard that the last few pounds are the hardest like you said so I won't give up. I walk a lot so I'm going to try to do light jogging and then slowly work my way up to light running. :) I'm vegan again and now I'm mostly trying to eat fruits and veggies....I used to eat rice and pasta all the time.

I admire you, I could never stick to a vegan diet. I just try to stay balanced. I need to eat more veggies. Running intervals can be good. At a level 8-9 for as long as you can or a set period of time, then slow jogging (eventually just for a minute or so), then back up to running hard. I've heard it's very effective.

Got my new trainers! So no excuse now...
Plan to start my first walk/run combo tomorrow and mix that up with visits to the gym. Need to make sure I don't overdo it and kill my knee again

If you have knee issues, I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but work your exercise level up slowly, and try to avoid excessive twisting at the knee. Zumba for example might not be the best idea.
I have knees bad enough that I can never take up running, at the orders of my doctor. They can be limiting sometimes but I just do the best I can. I hate lunges and squats though, and lately my PT has those in every leg day.

Thank you brioche! I welcome the advice :)

I have decided to follow the Couch to 5k programme - it has been designed by the nhs in the uk and gets great reviews. I like it because it will force me to build up gradually and not overdo it.

I started today :D

I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday. It went well and they didn’t find anything out of the ordinary except for my brain. But the prep part was pretty horrid.

Today I’ll get some gym time in and do some walking. We had some snow yesterday.
