I'm back, even if you didn't know I was missing

Nope. I didn't notice you were gone, but that's probably because I've been gone myself. Winter/spring tends to be work season, and the rest of the time, I twiddle my thumbs. Unseasonably busier this year mostly because the snowbirds have been escaping a brutally long winter and somewhat better fiscal times. But, enough about me.

Welcome back. Plan to stay long?

I purchased an antique 1928 German violet wand set, in absolute mint condition and thought of you :)

Getting it refurbed, the kicker coil needed re winding as the insulation was breaking down.
It has over 20 electrodes, including the ubiquitous anal probe

Well, I am glad you are back!

I just popped in here and every familiar name is a comfort to me. I certainly would've noticed you not being here.

I doubt anyone remembers me, though.

I'm just the opposite. I'm more active in the warmer months and more of a homebody in the colder months. And being at home more, I can post more. I hope to be around for a while. I might not post that much, but I'll be reading what others post. There will be times when I'll post more, because I have the time, or when I feel I have something to contribute.

That's very interesting. I've only seen one wand that could be considered antique and while it worked, I wouldn't consider it in good shape. The whole kit showed wear. If this one was in mint condition, someone took care of it, because they understood something about electrical things. You keep them in good condition, they last longer.

I know wands have been around a long time. In the 1800s, there were a lot of quacks selling remedies of all sorts. Elixirs and pain relievers of all kinds, sold door to door like vacuum cleaners. When Nikolas Tesla invented the Tesla coil, violet wands were added to this list of pain remedies. Of course Tesla was a great inventor, he wasn't a quack. Because there were already electrical devices on the market to control pain, so this was just another fad of the day for some people to make sales.

Electrical devices of different types were all the rage in those days, because (1) electricity was new and an easy sell to people looking for relief from their pain (2) you can't see electricity, so some devices didn't even have much juice in them, or dangerously too much. And (3) so little was known about electricity by most people that it was sometimes considered the new wonder product. It was a gullible era for such things.

But today we have TENS units that are another version of pain relief. They don't have a Tesla coil in them like the wands, but they are seen as a valuable way to help blood flow to injured muscles and joints, enabling faster healing of those areas. I think violet wands can work in similar ways, when used at low intensity settings.

And the BDSM world has incorporated both the TENS and the wand for use in pain infliction. It's an easy adaption from their first use as pain remedy. You just turn up the juice and a new toy is added to the toy box.

Needless to say, I enjoy electrical toys. I take care of my own wand and it takes care of me. But mine was manufactured much later than 1928 and it's not German. Germans have always made good things, so this shouldn't be any different. Sounds like a great find.

Now, that you thought of me when you saw this...I hope it was because I enjoy electrical toys and not because I'm still in mint condition, even though I'm old. :D

Oh, I remember you, brioche. See, the longer I stick around, the more I see people who have left and then come back for a visit. Newbies don't yet understand this, but we do develop friendships here. Sometimes we don't even know how we have impacted others.

It's nice to see you back, brioche. I'm glad that you popped in for a visit. The names here have changed a lot, but some of the good ones are still around. Stick around for a while. We can always use more good people.

Ahem. SOME newbies don't I'm sure, But others have experienced similar in other online communities and have already felt moved and impacted by others here :rose:
Then, you're not a newbie. Sure, maybe a newbie on this forum, but I meant newbies in general. If you've been on other online communities, you are experienced! :D

Hehehe, I seem to recall your passion for all things electrical.
Over here, we can still dig up a lot of vintage wands.
This one I purchased directly from a lady in Germany who was clearing her grandparents house and found it in the loft.
There are two notable German makes, WAPA and Felma, they are both utterly gorgeous. Mine is a WAPA. On taking it apart, the capacitor is made of glass, everything in beautiful order, however the insulation on the wires is beginning to perish, so everything is being replaced before it is used, the kicker coil is being reinsulated, and an earth wire is being installed.

It came from Munich, quite amazing that it survived the blitz and came to me in such amazing condition.

I have tried the electrodes in a modern machine, there is a double eye piece, single eye, tongue, ear, two mushrooms, cautery wand, and of course, the prostate stimulator!
All of the wands are hand blown glass, I wouldn't use any of these internally, they are ridiculously fragile.
There is a picture over on my fetlife gallery if you are interested :)

Good to see you back anyway

It's sad that I was having log in issues with Lit, and it took a long time to get fixed. That was before this thread was started...I don't even remember starting it now, but I guess I thought I needed to let people know I was still here.

This was just a year ago, and since then, I have had other issues take over, and Lit was again on the back burner. Now, I see some who have posted in this thread are no longer here. I hope the new group of regulars were able to benefit from their insights, because they all had experiences that we could all learn from. Hardships, life issues and how they overcame them and came out on the other side a better person. I'm sure the present group of posters are all good caring people with experiences to share. We all lose, when people like this stop coming around.

I use tens twice daily, and also have found holding the electric fence can temporarily abate my particular neurological pain ( not mains fencing, that would be rather foolish to try) but when I got excited about electro play and London alternative market G quietly steered me away. It's something he has no interest in. I'd try it at least once. :)
OK, I've got to ask...electric fence? How do you do this? Do you grab it with both hands and hold on? I hope you don't do that. Just grab it with one arm at a time. If you grab it with both arms at the same time, your heart is in the path of the current. That's dangerous.

I'd say it's best to grab with one arm at a time, and let the current go through your arm, down your body and into the ground through your feet. You might have to take your shoes off, but if this works for you, it works for you. And if you take off your shoes, watch out...electrical current is always looking for the quickest way to ground. Doing this on a wet day might not be cool, either. Electrical current and water love each other.

I'm sure it's DC current, but if this fence is long, it could have a booster somewhere near by. Get close to that booster and it might kick you on your ass.

If you're still around here, I'd like to know how the wand is doing. I'd guess it's all repaired now and you've probably been using it. I'll see if I can venture over to Fet and check out the pictures.

Shit, just a year ago, you're glad I'm back and now I'm sad you're gone.

FurryFury, ecstaticsub, Miles Long, Curious_in_Cali, LallyH and ultramarineblue I guess you are all gone, too. I'm really starting to feel melancholy here.

Yes. Amble around and poke your head into threads and look for them if you miss them! I'm sure they'll be glad to see you.
(Sincerely)
