I'm out...

Thank you, Red. I've always liked you, too.

I start my share of silly, fluff threads and most don't go very far. For one thing, as I have said ad nauseum here, my flirting fails online, so I don't engage in it very often. And I like to have fun as much as the next person.

My only statement was that it would be nice to have more Dom/mes posting to serious threads for a change. (A lot of times they seem to digress into flirt threads with Dom-and-sub. And if that is where they are going then it should be taken to PM or IM.)
And it can be called complaining or whining or whatever but I think I am very clear and make every effort to not be passive/agressive in my posts.

I do not have a "specific" question at the moment. But I know that there are threads on the Talk board that would be enhanced with more dominant input.

You know, it's funny, I've never really considered myself much of a flirt...at least not a very good one. Lord knows I keep trying.

I have some thoughts about the lack of posting Dom/mes. It occurs to me that posting on the serious threads can leave one feeling vunerable, especially if one is starting a thread to ask questions or responding to something that has challenged them somehow. Maybe I'm silly, but if a Dom/me feels they are in a position of authority, strength, or whatever, perhaps they may see posting in that way as almost a weakness since it might suggest or reveal a possible lack of knowledge in some area.

Or maybe I haven't been getting enough sleep. I hope I've made some sense.

Actually, I think you make a lot of sense. I see your point and do agree. I never thought of that.

Also, as WD has posted, it is the busy time of the year and that explains some of this. Additionally, like others have posted... many Doms do have subs and are too busy to spend a lot of time at Lit.

You just like the pictures I post... the marsupials. ;-)

Nooo... I'm a New Zealander, not Australian. New Zealanders have sheep instead of Kangaroos. :p

But I always love your AVs. And I always appreciate flirting with you...

You have no marsupials there? And thank you about the AVs.

Well... no native marsupials. We do have zoos. Also, we have some escaped Wallabies (only in certain arieas) and Possums all over the place. They were released into the wild to start a fur trade, and of course now they are major pests destroying habitat. So NZ is desperately trying to encourage the use of possum fur so we can get people out there commercially trapping and killing possums.

Similarly deer and horses.

The largest native mammal was a bat. Even the rat only came with the Maori (who arrived a little over a thousand years ago.)

You mean the Weta of course?!!! (Giant tree-cricket.)

They are such cool beasties! But they can deliver a nasty bite with their legs.

Yes and no. They are trying to eliminate the wild horses that are causing massive habitat destruction -- generally people end up having them though, rather than them being killed.

The point was that horses had been introduced to the wild and were destroying habitat, as with deer and possums.

We have a similar problem in Nevada with wild horses. They are not indigenous here either. Lots of bleeding hearts come out to prevent the control of them, of course they are also not willing to adopt them.

Liberals... have all the answers but want to take no responsibilty.

All care, no responsibility. Yup. We get similar issues. Thankfully we have a very strong Department of Conservation (not to be confused with the department of conversation... me!)

Most of the horses DO get adopted though, which is cool.

Yes lol heard all about the bite while being shown a dead one... before I went to bed! Ooooh you nasty sadists!

lol but the fresh “crayfish” were excellent and more lobster sized!! Ours are little tiny buggers that might perhaps pinch a baby toe in a river…yes, I know crustaceans are different than insects, but had to even out the good with bad!

Crustaceans are related to things like scorpions and spiders. Speaking of spiders, the house I am moving in to (tomorrow!) is in Avondale, and Avondale is the home of the famous Avondale Spider. Big hairy beasties -- were used in Arachnophobia.

Not as large as the Australian Huntsman, or other bird eating spiders though. Avondale Spiders tend to live off insects.

So how long ago were you in NZ, lark?

About 4 1/2 years ago.... spent a month. A very interesting month. ;) But, I basically flew in and out of Auckland... didn't spend much time there. About 3 weeks in Castlepoint... uhm, exploring the reefs.... and then about a week or so doing the South Island and hostels! It was all very interesting - a beautiful country... and I earned the title of American Lamb fair and square!

You did the south island in a week? You must have been knackered!!!

Not sure what you mean by American Lamb (Do you baa when backed into a corner?), but I could believe American Fair. *grin*

lol it was a twisted rushed path along the South Island, there was something waiting on the North Island.... started out in kaikoura... arthur's pass was there in the middle and damn if I remember what was last.... it was sleep in a hostel at night and board the bus in the morning for a new destination!

lol it must have been being in the country by the sea in Castlepoint as EVERYONE seemed to need a nickname or two, god forbide proper names... I had two... owl and american lamb... lol... make of it what you wish, I didn't chose them.

I don't think Nico was discounting people simply for being young or new...He said he's always learning new things himself
He was just attacking the fallacy of someone who's new and young saying they have nothing to learn

I didn't mean to imply that he necessarily was... more just ranting about something his post made me think of.

What is with all the hijacking of this thread? FungiUG, you better be glad you're so Domly otherwise you'd be headed for the corner.

I don't know about that, ADR... Seems like most liberals would suggest that we wouldn't need to "adopt" any animals if only we could manage to leave them alone. Any adoption we could offer (stemming from our sense of responsibility) would only be to protect them from us, and us from them, in a situation which wouldn't be problematic if we could just learn to respect other animals' boundaries.

In fact, liberals would probably say that it's more important to eradicate the source of a problem than to find stopgap, unrealistic "solutions" like adopting pest animals.

(I figure as long as we keep talking about sex and religion in this forum, we might as well throw in politics!)

Oh, we're probably just feeling pressued to prove to ourselves that we really can have serious conversations here...

Either that or we just don't have social lives...
