I'm out...

What is with all the hijacking of this thread? FungiUG, you better be glad you're so Domly otherwise you'd be headed for the corner.

Actually, this thread was about the fact that we (well, Johnny in particular), couldn't seem to find much in the way of good conversations. So we've started some good conversation to counter that. I don't see any hijacking involved -- that was the intent of the thread.

Seems like most liberals would suggest that we wouldn't need to "adopt" any animals if only we could manage to leave them alone. Any adoption we could offer (stemming from our sense of responsibility) would only be to protect them from us, and us from them, in a situation which wouldn't be problematic if we could just learn to respect other animals' boundaries.

The problem is in particular with habitats, where an animal (or plant for that matter... gorse is a lovely example here) has been introduced into the habitat that is destroying the habitat.

Why save the horses, for example, when they are destroying the very habitat that supports them? Along with other species that *were* living in balance with the habitat?

It's a very species ego-centric attitude to assume we are protecting the animals from "us". In the examples I cited, we are protecting other species from a species that has been wrongfully introduced by us. So we are in fact attempting to reverse damage, or undo an evil.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, including you Fungi, but I guess it depends which way it is viewed. I think the problem noted is that most threads degenerate into chitchat and kill/smothers the original conversation to become just another flirt type thread. Added to that was though we like flirting, all things are best appreciated when kept in balance and don't become the expected outcome of every thread which has been a problem over the past months. Flirt and gossip has it's place, but some are expressing a desire to maintain a balance of both flirt/fun AND serious as intended when the board was divided.

And as expressed by many including myself, this and over sensitivity resulting in open attack on particular issues has resulted in many regulars not posting at all or as much, and looking to other sites where serious conversation is maintained by moderation ridding the serious threads of hijacking funsters. It is good Lit does not have such heavy handed tactics in moderation, but I and others are beginning to appreciate the necessity some sites have seen for going this track. I cannot understand why it seems necessary for serious topics to be hijacked over and over, even when polite requests not to are made, when there is already an abundance of funtype threads we all contribute too.

Would the flirt people threads like it if posters began coming on their threads and turning them into deep and meaningful conversations? Doubt it. Can't there be a happy medium for those who come here for fun, and those who come here to gain valueable support/discussion for thier lifestyle choice, and those of us who choose both options and enjoy the diversity? Isn't it about respecting others and not thinking only from our own perspective and what we see as our chosen view of and approach to BDSM and life and forcing others to live with it? Can't we have both and respect the boundaries without the need for heavy handed moderating? I am sure Miss T has much more interesting things to do with her time and would appreciate us moderating ourselves in a way which has something for everyone.

It is also strange for a board where the majority are against even the mention of beastiality, and the theme is BDSM and related topics, that of many threads are taken over by discussion of animals. Just an observation...could it be a sign of latent desires and fantasies in the minds of some who profess otherwise? LOL

If that stands to reason imagine what it says about those who have brought up their children on a BDSM board.

LOL....That is a good point, though as yet I have not noticed pics and discussions of children being introduced into a multitude of unrelated threads....I must become more observant when I drop in here!!

Well actually, some of us do like animals. We just prefer not to fuck them or be fucked by them. That is the point really.

Sounds like asking for problems with major malnutrition! I wouldn't feed children any kind of board, BDSM or not.

Indeed. I do try and restrict myself to "serious" comments (puts on "serious" Dom face and looks all stern) when I make comments to threads in the talk section, but in the cafe, I just relax and chat and flirt.

Is that bad? Will you punish me for it?

(To quote what I said later in that same post.) Allowing an evil to perpetuate is still evil... Recognising and correcting mistakes is human.

(and oh my god, I'm quoting myself. Self-referential! Eeek!)

Damn and you got me all excited there for a moment or two. I love new experiences and you sounded so in need......you just spoiled all my fun. It's all your fault!! Don't try and tell me it was partly my responsibility, I just know you are trying to be mean, mean, mean. "stamps her feet in tantrum"

Catalina Sheeesh did I get it right? I so want to learn how to throw tantrums and blame others for everything. Must be the p/a coming out in me...hear enough about it you begin to think there must be something good in it!!
