Infibulation

Very nice! It appeals to me in a different way than the sewing...my brain isn't quite sure what to make of it! But I think I see a female guiche peeking out at the bottom, maybe...?

If a guiche is a piercing in the anus then I think you may be right...

Wierdly enough it turns out to be someon I "kinda" know...

I may be able to ask her but don't hold you're breath for a reply.

A quiche is in the perineum, between the pubic symphysis and the anus. It looke to me likes she has one.

That pics is lovely, thanks for posting it.

Question - does anyone know how long a labia piercing takes to heal? I think I remember reading or hearing somewhere that it's about a year? (OK, now we're really off topic...)

This doesn't really answer your question, but my hood piercing took a grand total of about two weeks to heal. In general, female genital piercings heal much faster than most other piercings because there is so much blood flow to the area. Hope that helps.

I have a hood piercing, too - vertical hood piercing. :D Aren't they grand? I got mine because my clit is small, the Goddess' little joke for me - small clit, raging libido. Definitely functional. The person who did it instructed me to wash it carefully/soak it in sea salt/avoid oral sex for a month, which I did - that was a long month, let me tell you!

I just did a search - figured I'd find something about length of time, but...

From BMEzine.com:

"Outer labial piercings are a time-consuming piercing for most women to heal, as they pass through a great deal of tissue."

From Wikipedia:

"Labia majora piercings heal more slowly than labia minora piercings (they gave 4-6 weeks for inner labia), depending on the anatomy of the individual. They also tend to be more painful as there is more tissue to pierce through."

One woman on the BMEzine boards said that she got infected having unprotected sex (monogamous partner) 3 months after getting pierced.

Three months sounds like a LONG time, but if it's in the BDSM boards there MAY be other considerations.

The infibrilation in the original discussion was very much in the nature of a "Temporary Piercing" using sterile suture material there is no reason it should present any kind of problem.

For the "wedding dress" obviously a set of permanent piercings would need to be done. I'd suspect that they would need to be done in stages, perhaps one pair at a time...

Someone else would know more about that than me.

Everyone is different but a year is pretty far fetched IMO. I had ZERO problems with mine, no crusting, nothing. I didn't do any sea salt soaks or any of that stuff, used the "LITHA" method (leave it the hell alone) and just washed in the shower. Both rings healed quickly, but I followed the piercers instructions and did not have any oral sex or anything of the sort for 6 months after. It takes a long time to heal if you want them to really BE healed and not have any problems like rejection, etc. The wait to play with them was hard, but worth it. I would say 4-6 months at the most.

FWIW, I have one ring in each outter labia and plan/hope to get at least 2 more sets so we can lace them up. Ma'am locks the rings together when I am with her, and it's EXTREMELY erotic. We do have trouble finding locks that won't rust though.

I don't care what anyone says--the "leave it the hell alone" method is best! (Of course, all my piercings are gone now because Master doesn't like piercings other than the standard ear piercings. I miss them sometimes, but even I have to admit that they can be a pain in the ass.) The constant cleaning and whatnot that a lot of piercers recommend seems to make the skin irritated and, therefore, more prone to infection. My piercer always told me to just wash in the shower with anti-bacterial soap and leave it alone otherwise. With my nipple piercings, I had a lot of crust and often washed twice or three times a day because once the crust built up, it hurt like the devil. I ended up losing both my first nipple piercings (rejection) and one of my second. I took out the remaining one, my tongue ring, and my hood piercing for Master. I still have some trouble with the holes trying to become infected even without the jewelry, so I still follow the "leave it the hell alone" method.
