I sometimes dream he is back in my shower and life. That is a fucking nightmare! I have to get rid of him and back to my wonderful husband now.

I've been married nearly 15 years to my very wonderful (if human at times) husband, and I STILL have those dreams. They generally come when I'm under stress about something. I hate it. It's always that I wake up and roll over and my ex is there. And I"m thinking - OMG I have to get back to Tim and the kids!!

OH, and someone mentioned manic phase awhile back - I know before I really got serious aobut my treatment and therapy, I had times when I displayed behaviors of a real asshole. Now, in my first marriage (no medication at all, no therapy, that was for weak people) it was a cycle - he woud push me, hurt me, humiliate me in public, something...and I would sprial into whole bunch of stuff that would give him reason to hurt me, etc. It was a mess.

In the first part of this marriage I was still undiagnosed, untreated, but my husband was really firm about things - the first argument we had when I got angry and started name calling, he said "Oh, no, that does not happen. I will not tolerate that. We are arguing about an issue, not calling each other names." It was like a cup of cold water on my face!

So in some ways, while I didn't know I was being an "abuser" I was being verbally abusive - I was responding in the only way I knew how. Thankfully I picked a guy who could help me learn.
