Justice Alito fliew U.S. flag upside down because Trump lost

Huh. Never knew that was a thing. Terrible use for an innocent tree.

As to the ideology behind it... vomit.

"Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do!"
Actually, he doesn’t and won’t.

I’m still struggling after all these years with having to agree with Jennifer Rubin but 2:59 is straight 🔥🔥🔥.

This article is about the American Revolution-era flag. For the former flag of Maine, see Flag of Maine (1901–1909).

“The Pine Tree Flag (or the An Appeal to Heaven Flag) was one of the flags used during the American Revolution. The flag, which featured a pine tree with the motto "An Appeal to Heaven", or less frequently "An Appeal to God", was used by a squadron of six schooners commissioned under George Washington's authority as commander-in-chief of the Continental Armybeginning in October 1775.”

The ‘Appeal to Heaven’ flag evolves from Revolutionary War symbol to banner of the far right
The “Appeal to Heaven” flag was among several banners carried by the Jan. 6 rioters, who also favored religious banners symbolizing the white Christian nationalist movement., the Confederate flag and the yellow Gadsden flag, with its rattlesnake and “Don’t Tread on Me” message, said Bradley Onishi, author of “Preparing for War: The Extremist History of White Christian Nationalism.”

I see both our resident and new Deplorables are trying the "Bullshit Definition Argument" tactic in multiple threads.

The Pine Tree Flag update was posted to fish for one. And then have it destroyed. Well done. 😎

How silly of you to think that a few knuckle heads at the Jan 6 riot have changed the meaning of the flag that dates back to the revolutionary war. Since some waved American flags as well, you probably think that’s a now a banner of the far right as well. 🙄

Alito is one of the knuckleheads.

Flags and other symbols need to be interpreted in the way they are intended (usually by the person doing the waving).

Thousands of years ago the swastika was a Sanskrit symbol for good fortune. The meaning has changed in the last 100 years and the same can happen to flags with rattlesnakes and cedar trees on.

Nope. Alito wasn’t there on Jan 6.

Alito was up to his neck in the attempt to overturn the election.

In September 2021, Trump loyalist lawyer Sidney Powell, who was part of the team trying to get the results of the 2020 presidential election overturned, told a right-wing talk show host that while rioters were attacking the Capitol, she and her team were trying to get an emergency injunction to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s victory.

“We were filing a 12th Amendment constitutional challenge to the process that the Congress was about to use under the Electoral Act provisions that simply don’t jive [sic] with the 12th Amendment to the United States Constitution,” she said. “And Justice Alito was our circuit justice for that.”

The plan was thwarted, she said, when then-House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reconvened Congress and certified Biden’s win that night. “he really had to speed up reconvening Congress to get the vote going before Justice Alito might have issued an injunction to stop it all, which is what should have happened,” Powell said.

Alito was working with Powell and the other traitors trying to overturn the election, and Congress’ quick action that night is the only reason Alito didn’t issue an injunction.

Magic 8-Ball says: This ^ is very likely true.

🤬

As long as the Supreme Court makes decisions one approves of it is easy to imagine that it consists of nine sages of infinite wisdom who spend their days poring over ancient manuscripts in search of the absolute truth.

The reality is that Supreme Court justices have values that they read into the the frequently vague wording of the United States Constitution.

I already linked to the relevant quotes from Sidney Powell above. Read the thread.
Nonsense. She did not say Alito was working with her or anyone else. Gohmert was the plaintiff. The suit was filed in Texas. Alito is the circuit Supreme Court justice responsible for that part of the country. She said that if Congress hadn’t acted, “Justice Alito might have issued an injunction.” In other words, she has no clue what he would have done. Pro Tip: Next time you post an article, read it first.

Hey, if you think Powell is a lying sack of shit, that’s a reasonable opinion. Because she is clearly a sack of shit of one kind or another.

But she specifically named Alito twice in the quotes. Do you really think she wasn’t in contact with him?

You either didn’t read the article or have a wild imagination. She didn’t claim she or anyone else was working with Alito. She said he was the judge.
