Generally when I hear the term 'curvy' I think of an hour glass figure. Someone with defined, almost exaggerated curves. I don't think that it matters how large or small you are, it is the shape of the body. I do find many overweight women, that don't have a curvy shape per say, referring to themselves as curvy. I think it is more of a means to make themselves feel sexy, and a rebuttal to the idealized standard of beauty that our culture sets forth. Now before I have everyone up my ass.. I did not say that women that are overweight are not, or cannot be sexy. I am just saying that there is an idealized standard of beauty crammed down our throats through pop culture and media which can make larger women feel unattractive and because the term "curvy" is ambiguous (as this thread is proving) there is a certain safety from being stigmatized when using it. With that said, it is sad that because society is so judgmental, this even needs to be a discussion at all. Sexiness and beauty should be based more on how a women acts and carries herself and less on physical attributes.
